lets see a metronome creates the carrier frequency and is combined with the signal frequency of say a speaker through a motor that acts on the metronome, increasing the metronome frequency. the metronome acts on a whistle to modulate the carrier signal with the signal frequency. The whistle is heard from afar by a mic and the signal amplified and sent through the demodulator. The demodulating metronome pulls one way on a spring and then the other way another spring. This cancels the carrier wave and is set to appropriate spring strength. The two springs are completely stretched to max at all times from the carrier wave, the extra frequency from the signal wave passes through when the two springs pull on a transistor signal input.
