McConnell, who turned 83 Thursday, has been expected to retire following his resignation under pressure as Senate Republican Leader in early 2024.

The octogenarian and longest-serving party leader in Senate history has held on through numerous falls and health issues, including moments where he froze for almost half a minute.

Kentucky businessman Nate Morris is among the top names considering a run for his seat.

until 2026. Will he make it to retirement. All that under the counter free money is sure hard to give up. But things are getting a little hot.

I think that these guys believe that they will not be investigated if they just get out of there.

Unlike some in Congress on both the right and left at least he finally realized it was time to hang it up. Far to many will try and stay there till the day they die.

That may still happen.

Normal people are happy, looking forward to retirement because working is hard.
Federal employees try not to retire until 99 and are unhappy about retiring because retiring is giving up a lot!

Mitch has been retired for a long time, just still showing up on the senate floor.
Now he has to give up the gravy boat and go home.
Poor Mitch. Off to Harry Reid with you. Don't let the Ruth Bader Ginsberg hit you on the way out.

Isn't the Kentucky Governor a democrat??
HAHA. McConnell...yes, "acting" like one.

Nate Morris is a Republican and is noted as a political fundraiser. Morris raised over $50,000 for President George W. Bush's 2004 reelection campaign. He has worked in a variety of roles for several Kentucky Republicans, including the U.S House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. Department of Labor.

There is also this:

I thought he announced he would leave after his term expired when he stepped down from the leadership spot.

McConnell said he plans to serve out his Senate term, which ends in January 2027, “albeit from a different seat in the chamber.”

LOL....Maybe the turtle forgot, and the press does not want to embarrass him. ;)
