LOL. My dad told me a funny story about y2k at his work. Computer guy was on vacation and forgot to install the patch for a critical program they use and the whole place was in melt down mode. After about an hour, they came to his office and were shocked to discover the program was working for him. He just smiled and said he reset the date on the computer to December 31, 1999 and the problem went away

The meltdown could have been a universal thing had we not been vigilant and updated our code.

Its like the guy who tells the old lady who lives next door he will rake her leaves for her that fall, and does so, but she never sees him outside doing it because she is a shut in.

Later he is talking to her and she insists the leaves were never a problem that she saw herself.

Fixing the date on Oracle databases was one of my main jobs prior to 2000, and I promise you, had no one addressed the issue it would have been a universal meltdown of all computer systems. You dont want that.

Most of our knowledge about these asteroids is coming from efforts to get some kind of visual survey of them in preparation for mining them.

Once we start to mine asteroids, diverting them from hitting Earth will be a simple task.
