Massachusetts Bill S.2246. This bill aims to impose a cap on the number of miles that residents can drive their personal vehicles. While the intention is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable transportation, the bill has sparked significant debate over its potential implications for the state’s residents.

Understanding Bill S.2246

Massachusetts Bill S.2246 is designed to address climate change by limiting the amount of driving individuals can do in their personal vehicles. The bill proposes a specific mileage cap, which if exceeded, could lead to penalties for drivers. The rationale behind this legislation is rooted in the need to reduce carbon emissions from one of the largest contributors to pollution: personal vehicles.

CA tried this as a "voluntary" program to self-report the annual mileage. It was a bust.

The obvious answer, then, is to make the program mandatory.

Think this legislation will force China to cut back on polluting?

Own and drive a car where you can disconnect the odometer cable from the gearbox that doesn't throw up a tamper warning. Years ago that cable broke on my car, I only replaced it in the run up to it's MOT. I hadn't done many miles that year !!

Would 'The People', or The Politians vote for it?
I doubt even the liberal voter would want their politicians to vote for that.
Seems like it would be considered a power grab.

Then I guess they shouldn't elect those people, but they did and they mostly likely will again.
