Mamdani gives New Yorkers a snow job
Five forms of ID required to shovel snow, and zero to vote.
For the first time in almost a decade (which, for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is ten years if she happens to be reading this), a blizzard warning has been issued for New York City.
Which prompted Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) to put out a call for temporary, per diem emergency snow shovelers to remove snow and ice from public areas.
So much for union jobs.
The pay is $19.14 an hour, which is less than the $22.54 starting wage of a rookie New York City sanitation worker, and only $2.14 above the state's $17.00 minimum wage. But there are conditions. These soon-to-be temporary employees of the now Rotten Apple must be at least 18 years old, able to perform heavy physical labor, and eligible to work in the U.S.
But that’s not all! The city is also requiring workers to submit multiple forms of identification if they want to be granted the privilege of shoveling snow, including two small 1.5-inch square photos, two original forms of ID and copies, and a Social Security card for registration, according to officials.

Residents of New York City have been victims of a snow job perpetrated by one Zohran Mamdani.
Let’s just hope that, by this Democrat logic, the city’s minorities don’t want a job shoveling that snow.

In true Communist fashion, Mandami should be pulling mem from their homes and forcing them to clean the roads and sidewalks.
He's gone from a smirking socialist satyr from tax the Rich to, 'Let’s raid the retirement funds of the Little People' in about six weeks. Welcome to socialism New York City. Shoveling snow is the least of your problems. Hope you enjoy the ride.
Haven't Democrats told us these these requirements are racist. Obviously Zorhan and the City Council don’t want black folks or women to get these jobs, since we all know they can’t possibly figure out how to obtain even just one ID.
One might think that were so, but the photo of the happy workers shoveling snow belies that; they are all POC; it would seem that “White folk need not apply.”
This is satire even the Babylon Bee can't make up. Mad-dami and his comrades don't even care that they are hypocrites of the first order. How did NYC remove snow in the past? Were the city workers fired?
The coming storm will likely be bad, but nothing like the Great Blizzard of 1888, also known as the Great White Hurricane. It was one of the most severe snowstorms in American history, and New York City received up to 58” of snow from March 11-14. Forty-five mph winds created snowdrifts 50+ ft high. There were over 400 fatalities, paralyzing the city. People were stranded in their homes for up to a week, and it affected most of the Northeast. People dug out because they had to, not because they were paid.
