The fake hippy reminds the world of what a pretentious pr*ck he is.
Perhaps some people want to contribute something tangible in their work rather than providing zero tangible value to their country other than riling up the Crazy Ones.

This fools says "we've moved into another era". As if his weak talk show is going to build tanks, jets and submarines in times of war.

I've always been cautious of this guy when he tries to pretend he is a moderate. I despise cowards and I wouldn't want to share a foxhole with him or be on part of the Resistance and hoping he wouldn't rat out my whereabouts to the enemy under questioning.

"Real Time" host Bill Maher challenged one of President Trump's central arguments as he wages a tariff war among several countries.

"I have one basic question: Why do we want to bring back manufacturing?" Maher asked his panel on Friday. "It's so 70s, you know? I mean, that ship has sailed. You know, there are countries that make jeans for $11. We're never going to be that country again."

"China's moving into the AI age, and he wants to go back to manufacturing, which, by the way, if you create new jobs, who's gonna take them? Robots," Maher continued. "That's who's gonna take them anyway! He acts like progress itself is woke. And nobody spoke more against woke bulls--- than me, but progress itself is not woke. We've moved into a different era."

Steel isn't obsolete. Energy isn't obsolete. The cars we drive, the planes we fly... The only thing that was obsolete were the jobs that went to China. Their GDP went way up, we became a debtor nation.
What would happen to China if we replaced everything in Walmart and others with made in America merchandise? We would get rich again, they would become a debtor nation. In debt to us is a good place for China to be.

Is Maher some kind of globalist or internationalist? Self-sufficiency in manufacturing saved us more than once in the past century.

It is time to once again become the Arsenal of Democracy and a Manufacturing Superpower. Maher is wrong. Profoundly wrong.

No more reliance upon remote or (oftentimes) hostile adversary-suppliers. Time to crank-up the Trade schools again, as well.

It's time to wean ourselves off of near-slave-labor in some of these second- and third-world $hitholes that exploit their own people.

If that means higher prices and some short-to-mid-term pain, then... so be it... the sooner we begin, the sooner we put it behind us.

We were a "debtor nation" long before our mfgs moved to China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Oops, I forgot Mexico.

Due to the cost of manufacturing in the US, we can't compete. DJT thinks that if the tariffs are high enough, it will level the playing field. I'm taking a wait and see approach to the effectiveness of that plan.

Maher's perpetual severe TDS does him in whenever he's on track to a red pill eureka moment.

Every single time.

A lot of companies are moving production to the States to avoid tariffs.

Companies eye US expansion to reduce risk from Trump tariffs

Hes such an idiot. I doubt he has ever manufactured anything so he has no clue. Sadly though he's representative of much of the Liberal mindset. They have no problem with us being a dependent country. Dependent on other countries for our food, clothing and material goods. They want American kids to all be Academics? or work in I.T. ? ask him why, when A.I. will steal all those jobs as well ! Manufacturing can save us.

I still actually still work in manufacturing myself btw... in a laser cutting shop where we make Stainless Kitchen counters and tables for restaurants mainly. People like Maher and his ilk have no pride in his fellow citizens.
Robots only would work in extremely large companies who do huge volume. Smaller companies rely on humans for the flexibility in different tasks... not every small shop can put out millions of dollars for these things to replace huimans. These liberals who live in academia and the media bubble are ignorant and are probably a big part of the cause of our manufacturing demise. They never respected what people do, becasue they dont know what real work is.

Manufacturing is a matter of national security. Depending on another country to manufacture what your country needs is insane.

exactly. every kid coming out of Highschool should know how to run a lathe.. but how many kids even know the history of manufacturing in this country and why it ever mattered? Of course they wont be looking for that type of job because they are taught not to.

LOL, well I meant in a PERFECT world!
I mean shouldnt all kids know the joy of being able to adjust a knurling attachment, and come out with the perfect diamond pattern? theres nothing more fulfilling.

And look man. I know perhaps I was a little pointed in my example, because its the thing I'm familiar with, howver consider that being a spelling B champion in school, or a standout on the debate team can only get you so far these days.. can only get a country so far. So what do we need? another anti capitalist like aoc ?

far fetched as it may be, just imagine a world where every kid comoing out of H.S. DID know how to run a lathe! first of all there is the applied mathmatics... attention to detail and safety, general knowlege of applied physics if they can grind thier own cutting bit on a grinding wheel. Think of how smart kids would actually be before they go on to their carreer as an accident attorney.

Plus every 16 year old should know the swagger of being accidentally drenched in cutting oil at least once.
and the smell of it.

These people all want to let the good paying jobs disappear so that only the crap jobs remain and then they want to force Walmart, McDonalds, et al to pay $20 per hour for those crappy jobs and maybe even institute universal basic income. That is what they want. They actually want the big corporations to use AI, robots, and other machines so that humans don't have to work and then when the rich get richer without having to pay for human labor, then they want to force the rich to share their wealth with all humans who don't have to work anymore.

I'd settle for being able to read, and do math at grade level.

The quality of product made in the likes of the US, UK, Germany etc.. are of higher quality than the cheap junk from China. So it's created a throw away society because those crying about the pollution champion China. We live in stupid times.

What is the game we are competing in?

Do we get a prize for being the biggest schmucks in history by giving away our entire industrial base to foreign countries like china?

Biden just flooded America with 12-15 million migrants on top of the 10’s of millions who were already here

Since globalists do not want to send them back they will need more jobs than our service economy can provide
