I've heard of these islands but never thought much about them. Then, I found this piece in the Daily Mail and this particular picture caught my eye. They raise sheep and then use to wool to make famous cloths. They cut peat from the marshes to heat their homes and sell throughout the British Isles. Their homes are made of stone with straw roofs. So, what on earth is a modern Car doing there. Do they even have electricity and running water?

Anyhow, an interest piece @ Jeff Mitchell's photography captures Isle of Lewis' traditional way of life on remote island | Mail Online
