Another liberal. Dumb idea is in the books. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) has introduced legislation that,among other things, would cut federal funding for state law enforcement and prison construction, if a state disproportionately arrests and/or incarcerates low-income individuals and/or people of color, for marijuana offenses.
See the fallacy ? Not hard to find. By going by results (arrests), as a reason for taking action, without examination of the CAUSE of those arrests, foolish politicians again show their opportunist colors (no pun intended).
By appealing to their minority base, they are not addressing the actual CAUSE. Secondly, they then discourage cops from enforcing the law when it requires arresting minorities. Third, this then causes minorities to engage in more illegal drug abuse, while perceiving a greater capability to do so, and get away with it.
