And they're being blatant about it. No wonder the other side is considered the Law and Order party. This makes it easy for the people of Oklahoma to decide who to vote for on election day.

Well, if the Bible is to be included so should the Koran, Tora and whatever the hell witches use.

Liberal educators are breaking the law in Oklahoma "..... dozens of superintendents are blowing off a Walters directive announced this past summer that "all Oklahoma schools are required to incorporate the Bible, which includes the Ten Commandments, as an instructional support into the curriculum across specified grade levels, e.g., grades 5 through 12.”

I have mixed feelings about this. I can think of several compromises that would be better.

Yes, that is something worth exploring:

Here in Sweden we've had a problem (devastating or not):

1). Required teaching of religion in schools as an academic overview, that is to say teaching children about the various religions in the world without pushing an agenda about any one of them.
* The immigrant Muslim children would walk out of the classroom whenever non-Muslim religions were presented. It was (still is?) the parents of those children who instruct them to do so.

2). Required Swedish history.
* Again the immigrant Muslim children would leave the classroom when the part of Christianity arriving in Sweden happened. Yes, their parent instructed them to walk out.

👉 I confess that I do not know what has happened since but I am sure the "leftist" "snowflake" government has made concessions in the Muslim's favour.

👉 Personally, I ask myself if teaching world religion should be required in schools and I say "yes" and should Swedish history be compulsory in schools and again I say "yes".

What is it about “thou shall not kill” that lib educators do not understand?

IMO the mandate is unconstitutional.

Has it seen the Supreme Court yet?

Judaism and Christianity are "establishments of religion"

IMO it should be up to parents and churches to educate children about religion.

There is a gray area when it comes to "bible as history". Typically that only occurs in 10th grade.

Why not teach the Eight Fold Way?

It's just as good.

More comprehensive, even

The Noble Eightfold Path is a set of eight practices in Buddhism that are believed to help cultivate wisdom and end suffering:
  • Right view: An accurate understanding of the nature of things, especially the Four Noble Truths
  • Right intention: Avoiding thoughts of hatred, attachment, and harmful intent
  • Right speech: Refraining from verbal misdeeds like lying, harsh speech, and divisive speech
  • Right action: Refraining from physical misdeeds like stealing, sexual misconduct, and killing
  • Right livelihood: Avoiding trades that harm others, either directly or indirectly
  • Right effort: Cultivating the qualities of mind needed to remain vigilant along the path
  • Right mindfulness: A state of mind that is beyond the limitations of space and time
  • Right concentration: Also known as right samadhi, which means "meditative absorption or union"

Having people who don't believe the Bible, who don't honor it as God's Word, TEACH the Bible is a very, very bad idea. I have said this before and I'm saying it again.

hard dislike from me. Just don't.

Walters doesn't have the statutory authority to mandate specific content. This is not a law, it's an edict.

The LAW in Oklahoma (which I know a bit about, having lived there for six years) gives local school districts the power to determine curriculum and content. Walters is allowed to set "academic standards", that's all.

The Oklahoma state constitution explicitly prohibits religious instruction in classrooms. The fundies tried to change that in 2016 and were soundly defeated by the voters.

we can not compromise with people who think that their idea is divine wisdom and ours are demonic evil. for some reason they won't meet us 1/2 way.

so fuck '[em.l

Thank you, Scuffy.

Does anyone know what you're talking about? Not from what you've written.

Liberal educators are killers?

Maybe they should only allow qualified Christians to be teachers.
You can home school your child in Oklahoma, the rules are pretty lax. You just have to make sure your kid studies for 180 days out of the year. There are guidelines and standards but nowhere does it say you can't teach the Bible.

Also Bible History is already an elective in many high schools. It falls under the umbrella of "social studies" which is a broad topic, it includes things like basic psychology and even Prager U is on the official resource list. Our kids did "college prep" which is pretty traditional, it focuses on American and European history ("western civilization") and stuff like that, but my daughter almost talked me into letting her take art history till I found out it was a do-nothing class for seniors then I told her to wait till she got to college. :p

Liberal educators are killers?

lol - only if they try to change your gender. :p

No, it's softer than that. Thankfully OK doesn't go in much for the CRT. (Which is kinda interesting, we live on the Trail of Tears just a few miles from the biggest reservation in the US, they don't go for it either).

They understand it. But it flies in the face of their abortion agenda.

even worse " you send little jimmy off to school and he comes home 3 days later , a different gender" trump
It takes more than 3 days, don't it?

I shouldn't make light of it, it's serious stuff.

Trumpy is a funny guy though. :p
