LHas Russian military already been beaten? Military expert's opinion

SHORT: Russia is Destroying the Ukrainian Army US Spent 8 Years Building

May 6, 2022
"The US and its allies spent 8 years building up the military Ukraine had at the beginning of Russian military operations in February 2022. This is the military Ukraine had that lost the cities of Kherson and Mariupol, and failed to prevent Russian forces now from shaping the battlefield in Donbas creating the conditions for Ukrainian forces there to be cut off, encircled, and systematically destroyed.

After 8 years - this was the best the US and its allies could do to prepare Ukraine. Despite the urgent flood of weapons and money into Ukraine now along with remedial training programs - nothing now can be done better or quicker than over the past 8 years - Russia is removing Ukrainian combat capabilities off the battlefield faster than Ukraine and its allies can replace or regenerate it."

When's the last time we armed & trained a foreign fighting force that didn't shit the bed as soon as they faced an enemy on their own? Maybe WWII with Filipino guerillas?

I notice since Congress and the president passed that aid package, there has not been a lot of pro-Ukraine war propaganda on this site. Does this mean, truly and welly, the war is not going well?

This is from a pro-western site, and this was fifteen days ago (recorded five days ago ). . . :eusa_think:

You'll just eat whatever steaming pile they plop on your plate, won't you?
How surprised will you be when either:
A) Ukraine surrenders soon
B) This regional conflict between cousins that is none of our business erupts into WWIII, with mass carnage across Europe & the globe?

Back in reality, there was no encirclement in Donbass. The Russians gave it all they had, and could only advance a few miles. They're incapable of any successful tactic except "saturate everything with artillery and then creep forward."

At the same time, the Ukrainians pushed the Russians way back all around Kharkiv.

Ukraine is just starting to get their big artillery into action.

Hence, this latest very lame Russian propaganda offensive. And they can't even win that.

Russia has lost its momentum

They have equipment that is outdated and barely functional. They lack the logistics, spare parts, medical supplies, food and fuel to sustain a lengthy invasion

Putin Still Wants the Entire Black Sea Coast

But wants to have its cake too, so good luck with that

vladimir-putin-victory-day-750x500.jpg

". . . . Putin also recalled the 2014 Odessa Massacre where local authorities conspired to unleash football hooligans and hard-right nationalists on pro-Russian protesters:

We bow our heads to the memory of the Odessa martyrs who were burned alive in the House of Trade Unions in May 2014, to the memory of the old people, women and children of Donbass who were killed in atrocious and barbaric shelling by neo-Nazis. We bow our heads to our fighting comrades who died a brave death in the righteous battle – for Russia.
I think that Putin talking about Russian figures who fought to win the Black Sea for Russia (not for Ukraine) means that he still hopes to capture the so-called Novorossiya region all the way to Odessa.

The goal of Kiev regime change might be out the window, but partition is still very much a dream.

However, I will say that Kremlin has not recently lacked for dreams. It has dreamed very big indeed. What it has lacked is the effort to make them anything more than a fantasy. Big dreams, lackluster effort has been the name of the game."

IMO? Putin and the Russians, after giving up on the resistance in Kyiv, still might be reaching a bit for Odessa. I certainly understand the longing. Catherine the Great founded the modern Odesa after our nation was founded, so. . . . one sort of understands that longing. . .

Clash of Christianities: Why Europe cannot understand Russia
". . . Ukraine then falls under the Russian orbit. Russian domination expands until 1764, when the last Ukrainian hetman (commander-in-chief) is officially deposed by Catherine the Great: that’s when Ukraine becomes a province of the Russian empire.

As Putin made it quite clear this week: “Russia cannot allow the creation of anti-Russian territories around the country.” Operation Z will inevitably encompass Odessa, founded in 1794 by Catherine the Great.. . "

Great reporting.

. . . but they have plenty of hydrocarbons for sale.

And? If the Chinese and Indians keep doing business with them? And the Ukrainian postions keep falling apart, and they keep losing man power?

Who knows what will happen. The west can keep supplying arms and ammunition, but eventually, Ukraine will run out of healthy men to fight.

There is only so much we can do with the corruption we are dealing with. . . .

If Putin were sane, he'd withdraw most of his troops, claim victory, kill EVERY general who stole defense funds rather than equip and train their military. THEN he'd begin rebuilding, this time sincerely and with accountability. He has one hell of a lot of rebuilding to do and his nuke claims aren't going to sway many people now unless he follows through and detonates one. THAT would end him and Russia's future as a member of the global community.
