California officials are urging homeowners to eat invasive rodents.

"Tastes like chicken".

"Add a rodent to your daily diet".

You don't travel much, I take it?

It's not uncommon in the poorer parts of the world.

That's why I live in the rich part.

Got tired of possum stew.

Raw fish is common in poor countries too. Out here they call it "sushi" and charge exorbitant prices for it. But at least it tastes okay and it's healthy and fat free.

Damn man, you really want to gut and skin a rodent?

I suggest just cutting the heads off and canning them like sardines. Maybe in mustard sauce.....

Grew up eating squirrels and are a red meat so its closer to beef. My father had me eat both Racoon and opossum so I knew what he ate growing up poor. If properly prepared Racoon is close to beef and pretty good, opossum not so much.
So why is the state of California land of golden streets want the population to eat rodents?

Possom sucks, anyway you do it, but barbecued coon is pretty tasty if the cook knows what he's doing. Squirrel makes a good stew if you have a few, but I have been known to clean one while still hunting, run a stick through it and roast it on a spit over a fire, as a tasty snack. We started carrying salt, and hot sauce to the field.

But it is illegal to sell a horse for human consumption or eat a horse in CA. SMH.

Are you claiming that California is become a Shit-hole and poor?

In a pinch, I’d probably try it out :-)

It sounds perfectly OK to me.

Folks tell me beaver is real tasty. Nutria is one I haven't run into in the wild. I hear the pelts also bring a good price.

Like rabbit? Nutria are short-eared rabbits.
They're all rodents.

When you're hungry enough you will, whether you want to or not.
