Xenforo zigzags wildly again! In the old software, new messages in your Alert folder were highlighted, but the highlight went away too quickly before you could read them all, fixed in the last iteration of Xenforo. Highlighted new messages remained quite some time, which was great. Even if you left Alerts to read some of them in the threads, the others still not viewed remained to remind you they were new.

Now in today's new version of Xenforo, you get a notification of new messages in your Alert folder, but when you open it, they are not highlighted at all! So, if you get 10-15 alerts at a time like I often do, it will be near impossible to sort out the new ones from the old ones.

Bad move Xenforo.

Nevermind. Now the alerts are being highlighted again. It seems that features keep changing every 2 minutes. I've seen about six different new headers so far. Every time I open a different thread, the forum has a changed new look.

It's almost like we are updating the site....

Yeah, thanks, I guess I'm used to it happening all at once and at 2AM like it used to. Apparently now it happens in steps and stages. Thanks.

We used to shut it down to do the upgrades. I figured keeping the site open instead of shutting it down would be a better approach... which means you get to see some of the changes while they happen.

No matter what we do, someone's going to ***** so might as well do it the way we want :)

No, that makes sense, thanks for explaining. Hey, the alternative is no one caring enough to say anything! :SMILEW~130:

Why did you eliminate the other skins?

I don't like the layout the way it looks on my computer.
I prefer the skin I was using, and I would like it back.

Let me guess and say that most people liked the old skin over the newer one (like me), or maybe they just haven't gotten to updating the new skins yet! :)

Well, I was just wondering if it was an economic reason. It's not like the skins eat any hay. They're just CSS files that can be targeted using a backend script, or like most forums, a front-in choice with a drop-down using javascript.

I mean, I don't really care. I use the website and often don't even bother to wipe My shoes before coming in. My actual theme didn't change other than the headers, and signature are now emphasized with a brighter white value.

I'm not directly involved in any way, but it is possible the other skins you like will be reinstalled later today. Also, engineers like to change stuff and maybe the other skins were unpopular or just causing problems or not working out for some other reason.

Now that I know what they are doing and why, I would just kick back and give it until tomorrow before deciding something is a problem as I've already seen maybe 3-4 iterations of the new upgrade unfolding.

For the most part, it is looking pretty good.

I've been concerned because by browser is out of date and I've been fearing problems but am not in a position to deal with fixing that yet.

It was disabled for a while until we upgraded that add-on modification. It's paid for, so we had to purchase it as our license expired.
