Klaus can take lids off!

I think we're headed to the beach tonight with the pore neglected darling.

Mylo is about 14 lbs. Snoop is probably 60-70.

Time for pics, huh...

When she was littler:

We're having "visitation" this weekend, lol. I have the snoopster now that the boy has gotten a job some 55 miles away and has an apartment where he can't have him. Snoop has never been separated from his girl before...she calls him her "brother" and is missing him.

So we're taking him up the coast for a visit, lol.

I always post the same ones but they're just so darned cute.

And poor, neglected klaus:

That was almost exactly a year ago; he's about 10 lbs heavier now.

So lately, I've been coming home to find whatever jarred/bottled stuff I leave on my counter in the middle of the living room without the lid.

He's always done this with peanut butter...if I leave out the peanut butter he'll grab it and just maw it until the lid comes off, then he will get all the peanut butter out by squishing the plastic container.

But lately he has discovered JAM. Now I have always known he has a sweet tooth...he would rather eat cookies than prime rib...but I figured that things like jam..and syrup...in the containers with the lid on securely would be safe...but no...

He's getting the jars of jam down off the counter and I don't know how he does it, but he manages to get the lid off and then licks down the jam to the point where he can't reach with his tongue...

And yes, syrup too. He had the syrup bottle down, and the little lid off, and all the syrup gone (does he actually chug it? I don't know.)

So today, the only thing on the counter was a can of peas, lol...I came home and there was the can of peas, sadly squashed but still intact, in the middle of the living room floor.

I can't believe he can take off different sized lids!!

Clever dog. ;)

Cooper hasn't managed to open any jars yet, but that's because I have never given him one. He does know how to open the gate, by lifting up the latch and using a paw to pull the gate toward him. Although that is quite annoying when you want him inside and he's opening the damned gate, lol.

Cooper has never tried peanut butter, but he does like jelly babies. They get stuck in his teeth and he chews for ages. Bread makes him drool because he can't chew it properly, and I found out the other day that he loves to eat raw pasta. He also loves the smell of chocolate, too bad he can't have any!

Not sure what the fuss is about the feeding. 2 cups of dry a day might not sound like a lot, but assuming they are decent sized cups, its plenty.

Cooper has one scoop of dry, which is mixed up with his wet - he needs wet food because he can't chew the dry properly due to his previous owners having his teeth filed down. He eats what he can, and goes back to it later on. One meal a day, a lot of exercise, and he's fine. And the odd snack, or two - he gets my KFC chips when I buy some. Of course, he has to either shake hands, crawl, beg etc before he gets anything.

I fed all my dogs chocolate by the pound in the years before it became common knowledge that it could be deadly!

Whoops!

None of mine died...but I have spoken to people who say their dogs have gotten/died from choco poisoning. Terrible!

Mylo once got a whole (unopened!) bag of kisses down, and at them all. After removing each one from the bag, then it's foil wrapper and little tissue tail thing.

I came home and there were dozens of kisses wrappers all over the house.

She didn't die but I was quite concerned for a day or so. She didn't even get sick. I still have to beat her away from chocolate.

Hey, Noomi...A cup is a cup. 8 ounces. What is the use of even talking in measurements like "cups" if they're not standardized.

Good grief.

She just put that out there about feeding a 125 lb. dog only two cups of food a day because she knows it sounds bad. There was no other reason to even mention it. She knew it would get a rise out of someone. Just like she talks about feeding her dogs chocolate and then goes "whoops." Oh, silly her!

Then she calls me all kinds of names because I "ask" if that is enough food for such a big dog. She's a pretentious idiot.

Um, I didn't preach to you about how much to feed your mutts...

BTW, he's 115 lbs, not 125.

And he's in great shape.

We have taken to hitting the lakes at lunchtime...and I took him on the siltcoos lake trail this weekend, which was fun.

He's lookin kinda pudgy to me.

A cup is 8 oz liquid VOLUME, but a cup of Ol Roy is not necessarily 8 oz, any more than a cup of lead weighs 8 oz.

and a cup of Ol Roy is a lot different than a cup of Blue Buffalo or Iams...and I don't feed Ol Roy...

Koos thinks this is a healthy dog:

Veterinarians all over, and I, disagree.

I think this is a healthy dog:

You know, you could have answered my questions without getting nasty and calling me all kinds of derogatory names. But noooooo....

Guess I ruffled your damn feathers. Sorry for caring about your dog.

The guy who keeps his dog in my garage keeps changing the dog's food, buying whatever is the cheapest crap on sale. Stuff I've never even heard of...the last bag he bought is "Old Yeller." WTF is that? I do notice he is consistent, though...the first ingredient in whatever brand he buys is always corn. I have to walk a thin line and not criticize him too much or he'll take his dog and stuff him back into the abandoned vehicle he was keeping him in (in subzero temperatures) before I offered him the use of my garage.

Anyway, maybe that's part of why I reacted when you talked about feeding your large dog only two cups of food per day. It now is apparent that you take very good care of him, which is all that really matters here, anyway.

My initial post was perfectly respectful, and I answered your question. It was when you came back with "why do you" when I got pissed. I'd just said why I fed him so little.

Old yeller is cheap crap food. I can see feeding cheap food if you're supplementing with real food, but that stuff just is bad. It's the same as old roy, i think.

My dogs tend to do best with Pedigree....even Mylo who has food allergies. I spent a LOT of money getting specialized food because I thought klaus had food allergies too...but it never made any difference. Then I learned that his allergies aren't food allergies at all...and everybody does well with Pedigree, so that's what we use. I tried all sorts of really expensive foods...and they do best on Pedigree.

It breaks my heart to think of the misery dogs endure...often from people who aren't even trying to inflict misery. I'm the same way about children. I know that at any time, there are millions suffering..hopeless, helpless, completely at the mercy of someone else. It boggles the mind.

Ah, it seems that in spite of our little fight we actually think quite a lot alike on the topic of helpless animals and children.

I feel the same about helpless elderly people. Imagine being a good person all your life and then ending up in some nursing home completely at the mercy of some psychopath. You're choice of words is right...it boggles the mind. : (

I just remember the other food the guy was feeding his dog before he got the bag of Old Yeller. It was Atta Boy. Also cheap crap food. But I think it suited the dog better. I think the Old Yeller is making the dog sick. He got diarrhea and had an accident in the garage for the first time in the six months he's lived there. : ( Also, he doesn't seem to be eating. I gave him an Immodium AD for the diarhhea (my vet has okayed this for my dogs before and I know the proper dosage), which seemed to help. But I'm keeping an eye on him to see if he starts eating again. Poor dog.

That's too bad. Atta Boy is better than Ol Yeller, marginally.

Hope he has his shots.
