Ohio law, like the laws of many oil and gas producing states, provides a means to combine mineral rights from individual tracts of land to form a drilling unit to efficiently and effectively develop the oil and/or gas resources beneath those tracts. Ohio Revised Code Section 1509.28 is commonly known as the unitization law.
Harris has changed her position on fracking and now understand that it is the most effective way to reach oil from various locations.
She has said that she will not ban fracking which is a reversal of a prior statement. I doubt if she could as she would have to get states to agree with it. Its big money for states.
Fracking and diagonal drilling is just a way to reach oil from various directions instead of the old way of let drill here and see if were lucky. Also liquid is used to make drilling easier.
Generally several drilling units can access the source of oil from various directions. (diagonally)
There are
1,625 fracking wells in Belmont Country this year, which marks a 25% increase from 2023, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), which oversees unitization orders in the state.
Hunkler said when oil and gas representatives called "landmen" came knocking on her door, calling her home and sending repeated notices, she learned of the state's
unitization laws. The fate of her land was largely out of her hands, she said.
A little drama their but she will make out in the long run. It may not be aesthetically pleasing
Well I guess they do not want people, roads and drilling units spoiling the view.
which is kind of stupid as landowners are paid well and all they have to do is sitback. Yeah all kinds of people will be driving on her land , possible oil spills but hey that is the price. If you have animals then they will forget to close the gates.
Still it money for nothing.
But I guess it the aesthetics of just living of the land without having to deal with oil wells and employees on her land.
Oh well , I guess she just has to deal with money for nothing.
