I just watched One flew over the cuckoo's nest. I saw it one time years ago as a teenager and never saw it since.

Anyway, as far as McMurphy's character ending up with a lobotomy what should I take from that? A criminal rebel is going to go brain-dead in a mental health facility? Why did Billy the stutterer kill himself over his mom being called by nurse Ratched? Why did McMurphy push the limits when he already knew the nurse and staff were crooked? The Indian was the only smart one but he also was not mentally ill.

It's a commentary on that era's idea of 'progressiveness' re treatments of the mentally ill. My favorite scene is the one where McMurphy finds out the rest of the loons there committed themselves voluntarily. lol
