Union General set things right by issuing General Order #3 :cool:

JUNETEENTH | The Handbook of Texas Online| Texas State Historical Association (TSHA)
JUNETEENTH. On June 19 ("Juneteenth"), 1865, Union general Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and issued General Order Number 3, which read in part, "The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.

I bet our resident Texans (without mentioning any names) here are out celebrating this day as we speak! Happy Juneteenth Lonestar! :lol:

A local Houston radio station sent a man out to interview blacks and most had no idea what Juneteenth meant.
