US District judge has barred Trump birthright citizenship, and has certified a class action suit for nationwide status, in light with SCOTUS's new ruling limiting injunctions. Now we get to see what SCOTUS says about the actual issue, or whether it tries to punt again.

Judge blocks Trump birthright citizenship order after Supreme Court ruling

A federal judge on Thursday said he will block President Trump’s executive order limiting birthright citizenship for a class of every child it affects.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Laplante, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, agreed to allow the plaintiffs to proceed as a class that includes any babies whose citizenship status would be at risk if Trump’s order went into effect, saying at a hearing that a written order will follow.

Laplante’s decision comes after the Supreme Court curtailed judges’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions against Trump’s policies but left open a door for challengers to try to seek broad relief by filing class action lawsuits.

Laplante’s ruling has the same practical effect as a nationwide injunction, as it applies to babies anywhere in the country. The class does not include parents, as sought by the plaintiffs.

He said he would stay the ruling for seven days so that the Trump administration can appeal.

Lol..... Yeah the only difference is now nobody has to listen to it. It can only be enforced in his own district.... But then again judges can't enforce shit.

Actually, in the recent Birthright Citizenship ruling Justices Kavanaugh and Sotomayor pointed out that Class Actions were on the table.

Sure....but a class action lawsuit does not impede or interrupt anything like a stay order does...also the parties have to be sure before they enter the suit that they can pay the injuries to the other side if they lose.

Trump is supposed to listen to the courts that won't listen to the Supreme Court.

If you had brought this up as the plot for a comedy movie 15 years ago, you'd have been laughed out of the room that it's so preposterous.
Yeah....no shit....

The new Class Action injunction prevents Trump's EO. The bond ordered for the Class Action? $1, one, uno, en.

The bond ordered for the Class Action above? $1, one, uno, en.

Why? Because in this case the Federal government will have no harm.

My guess... Before this goes too far that Bond will be up over a million bucks.... And I believe you will see the areas outside of that district simply ignore the order. What are they going to do take them to court?

The bond as already been set by the Judge as part of the Class Certification, it's $1.

I don't see anywhere in the country attempting to deny citizenship in violation of the Constitution.

Another ******* judge who ignores the Supreme Court. Trump should ignore this ruling.

Only in America is leftism so convoluted, irrational and malicious that they pretend the courts should be able to replace congressional or executive authority or that lower courts should be able to override SCOTUS.

Any judge who does that should have his/her ruling negated and he/she should be disbarred.

Only in America do MAGAts believe the President can exceed his authority and ignore Congress and the Courts.
