John carmack is an old school scifi lover and game programmer responsible for the original doom, a science guy and programming wizard.

"The publishing industry’s hostility to authors who are critical of progressive dogma was the primary impetus behind BasedCon. I wanted to put together an event where non-leftist authors could network and where new and aspiring authors could learn from authors who had already navigated these treacherous seas. When I mentioned the idea on Twitter, someone asked, “Are non-authors welcome?” And I thought, “Why not? A big meetup of sci-fi/fantasy authors and fans sounds like it could be blast.” BasedCon was born."

It's a damn shame we have to have a dedicated convention for people to be able to escape woke idealogies for science fiction of all things. The one genre that is dedicated to fantasy and escaping reality. It's like our society is trying to drag reality and social politics into everything, no one is allowed to just have fun anymore.

If the goal is to enjoy fantasy and escaping reality, why is so much of it dedicated to whining about wokeness? Admit it. You MAGAs just found another unrelated group, and you're willing to pay for a convention to infiltrate them. No doubt your next project will be an anti-woke quilting bee convention, or perhaps an anti-woke scrapbooking convention. Doesn't matter what the subject matter might be as long as you can assimilate it into your anti-woke collective.
