Seems like a thousand years ago, when people actually were questioning war, and it had some effect. That may never come again. I don't think we can have any peace movement as long as the music sucks. I like the way she turns into Bob Dylan.

Phil Ochs....said that baez and dylan didnt walk the walk like he did....and according to the documentary about him i saw...he was probably right...

Having gotten us deeply into the Vietnam war, the Democrats joined the "peace" movement* only after a hated Republican took the presidency and they could use the war as a political bludgeon on him.

The media set the narrative that Nixon could either lose the war and be blamed for it, or keep fighting an unwinnable war in which our side opposed democracy.

In my opinion, we don't have a viable peace movement now, not because today's music sucks so bad (and it surely does), but because both parties are so firmly in the pockets of the arms manufacturers.

I think that a conspiracy theory that the CIA is creating sucky bands and subverting the peace movement could get some legs. Dick Cheney and the Blowpipes, The John Bolton Flagellators, AC/DC/LFBTQETC, do I need to elaborate?
