Though it was a little bit late for me, I watched a bit of the San Antonio-Dallas NBA game last night, and I saw what might have been a historic moment and something else that is a bit frightening.

Much ballyhoo'd rookie for Dallas, Cooper Flagg, played generally pretty poorly but I did see his first NBA points, so if he turns out to be half of the "star" that is predicted I will have seen something special.

But on the other team...I was forced to take the name of the Lord while watching Wemby simply dominate play on both ends of the court. For the record he scored 40 points in 30 minutes, but the expression "scored at will" would certainly be apropos. And unlike previous Centers who scored at will - Chamberlain and Shaq come to mind - he scored from all from all over the court. Not only can he dunk from fifteen feet away, if three people block his path to the bucket (that's what it takes), he has incredible touch to go with his "length" and can just loft the ball off the boards if necessary, AND he handles the ball like a skilled Point Guard and is a credible threat from beyond the arc! It is not hyperbole to say that he is unique and virtually unstoppable within the rules.

And opposing players CANNOT connect from within 12 feet if he is anywhere near the paint. He will simply swat the ball out of the air. This fact leads to the resulting fact that players just don't even try after the first few shots have either been blocked cleanly or diverted by his presence.

Seriously, no other player has simply dominated the game the way he did last night, and NBA thuggery aside, there is no way to prevent him from doing the same every time he goes in. The only bit of mercy to be had is that the Spurs will not "overwork" the kid, and he won't ever play 48 minutes like Wilt always did. The other teams will have to get their shit together while he is on the bench to even have a chance.

The guy is seven-foot-forty with the wingspan of a 747, but you have to give him credit; he has honed his skills and is a gamer. He is so good you have to ask whether it is good for the NBA to have a player so dominant. But from his standpoint, when he gets fewer than 40 points he will be considered to have had an "off" night.

Well worth watching. Let's hope he does not get injured. He does look quite frail.

Might not be much of a NBA left after the fallout from the betting fraud.

They didn't show any of his games last year. Was he hurt? And they were talking about him before the season started like he was going to be something special. I guess he is?

He sort of disappeared after the first couple games of his first season and now this? Where is this coming from? Was he this good at the end of last season? This should be interesting to see how this plays out.

It seems like his team has gotten the 1st pick or 2nd pick or 3rd pick ever year the last few years. This team should be young and good. Someone who can compete against OKC?

I didn't get a chance to see this last game or hear about it on Sportscenter. Thanks.

I think they played him sparingly last year as he slowly adapted to the physicality of the NBA. If the first game is any indication, he will be cut loose this year. It will be comparable to when Wilt came along and started averaging 50 points per game.

This is making me think of JJ McCarthy. Vikings QB. Won a national championship for Michigan. He got to start the first 2 games but last night I noticed someone else was QB'ing. That doesn't necessarily mean he's done. He may just not be ready. And the replacement didn't do any better.

I hope they play more Wemby games on national tv. I don't think I saw one game last year. It's crazy how there are great players on shitty teams and you would never know because they never make the playoffs. If they are a shitty team the NBA doesn't air your games.

Here is one guy they played his games when he was a rookie until he got hurt. Haven't seem much of him sense but this is good news for him

Zion Williamson just showed the entire NBA he's back and better than ever

Zion Williamson was dominant in the Pelicans' regular season opener.
