This is the only correct legal position to hold. Israel not only has a sovereign claim to the territory, or even the best sovereign claim to the territory, Israel has the ONLY sovereign claim to the territory.

Israel did attempt to cede the territory to a future State, and would do so again, but not without the absolute, unequivocal, proven end to belligerence and a treaty of peace. And that seems unlikely.
