Israel detaining 236 Palestinian children. 4/17/2013 BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- "Israel is detaining at least 236 children as young as 12, among nearly 5,000 Palestinians held in Israeli jails, the Palestinian Authority said ahead of Prisoners Day on Wednesday. Israel is the only country in the world that has devised military courts for children, and it has detained over 8,000 children since 2000. Under Israeli military orders, a Palestinian child can be held for up to 188 days before being charged with an offense and for up to two years between being charged and tried. Most Palestinian children are held for throwing stones, which holds a maximum sentence of 20 years under military law.The United Nations Children Fund says Palestinian children in Israeli custody are subject to widespread, systematic and institutionalized ill-treatment that violates international law.In a report on Palestinian child prisoners released in March, UNICEF identified practices that "amount to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention against Torture"."The pattern of ill-treatment includes ... the practice of blindfolding children and tying their hands with plastic ties, physical and verbal abuse during transfer to an interrogation site, including the use of painful restraints," the report said." ISRAEL'S maltreatment of Palestinian children is addressed by news articles and reports of human rights groups and NGOs practically every day. What is it going to take to see these crimes against children end?

You mean like their parents strapping bombs on them?

Among Amnesty's findings are that 200,000 children per year are
prosecuted in general criminal courts, with an estimated 7,000 of
those children held in jails before trial.

****Over 11,000 children are currently being housed in prisons and
other adult correctional facilities*****.

the number 11,000 refers to children in the USA in ADULT penal
incarceration----many more times that number are held in
juvenile facilities ----sometimes euphemistically called
"children's shelters" (with bars on the windows ----not
to keep people out but to keep children in)

I wonder if sherri can tell us what Israel should do with a
child intercepted with a bomb tied to his body----in view
of her favorite dictum "PEOPLE REAP THAT WHICH THEY
SOW"?????

anyone?

for articles in the mistreatment of incarcerated children in the USA and
in England--just google around

if it's as bad as you say (sounds like you're comparing this maltreatment w/the likes of the horrors that go on in the CONGO or sudan -organized starvation, etc...) - wouldn't it be plastered all over the news ? do you have any...photographs ? did you write to netanyahu about it ? how could we give aid to a country that would treat children this way ? has foxnews covered this sherri ?

"Throwing stones is the birthright and duty of anyone subject to foreign rule. Throwing stones is an action as well as a metaphor of resistance. Persecution of stone-throwers, including 8-year-old children, is an inseparable part − though it’s not always spelled out − of the job requirements of the foreign ruler, no less than shooting, torture, land theft, restrictions on movement, and the unequal... There are NGO's all over the place reporting on the ABUSE OF INCARCERATED
CHILDREN----all over the world------sherri uses what sherri can use and
ignores reality----in her quest to "GET THE CHRIST-KILLERS" it is her
religion-----she is the spawn of ISABELLA and the other isa-respecters

As a good Christian woman and a wonderful humanitarian to those oppressed in this world, I wonder if this is on your radar screen. Surely you must be on other forums discussing this.

do you have any evidence at all that palestinian parents are strapping bombs on their children or is this just another malicious attempt that seems so common among the jewish/zionist posters to derail a thread that points out the abuses of the israeli jewish state and her citisens?

Then shouldn't they remove "RED" from the color spectrum so that the unwashed can't use that "Sacred" color?

i suppose they could do that, although i do not imagine that they think themselves of being in some exalted position. i am not quite sure how hard it would be.

they made a valid request that we adhere to...sort of...well, not actually adhere to refrain from the use of red letters...but that has sort of become the practise that those letters are reserved for mods and admins. it does become distracting and at times confusing when members other than mods and admins use them, although the wording doesn't prohibit others from doing so.

i suppose i could organise some posters to post only in red to prove a point, but that would be cutting off my nose to spite my own face so i think i'll refrain...LOL.

ok...that is confusing.

while the language does not specifically prohibit the use of red letters by members other than mods or admins, it certainly has been a past practise to which most members have respected and become accustomed.

all i did was post the portion of the rules and regs really. it seems many people, myself included, find the rules and regs unfair in whole or part, but they are what they are and we probably should try to adhere to them. they were put here for a purpose.
