While it is difficult to say for sure several trends are taking off:

Terminal companies such as Bloomberg; and Reuters have to produce actionable and accurate news to get their $25K and $10K annual terminal rentals this creates a talent drain. Screwing with one of their news bureaus is the fast track to a currency crisis. CNBC, CNN or FBN reporters can be ignored with at least some impunity. Reporters who cannot create a currency crisis can be ignored with almost total impunity. News and market sellers of services to investors such as MarketWatch occupy an intermediate position.

With the number and talent of reporters declining for the MSM tear and print is taking over.

Alternative media tends to be either industry or ideologically specific. The industry specific news sources are interviewed by the business channels.

The ideologically based media find compatible businesses to provide advertising whether it be for gold or alternative energy sources. Free or nearly free media cannot compete with online advertised industry.

With the two highest negative favorable ratings candidates in US history the news division id becoming a money loser.for the MSM.
