a subject that hasn't been brought up in a while is what is the US and the world doing to protect themselves from a massive EMP wave that could literally fry out electrical and electronic systems across the planet ! don't think it could happen ? well it already has ! in 1859 a powerful solar storm knocked out telegraph services across the globe due to electromagnetic pulses .. if it happens again, "and it most certainly will" are prepared ? have we hardened our systems against such an inevitable event ? can you imagine waking up one morning to the realization that the electrical grid has been fried across the globe ? when will the next Carrington event occur ? are we ready ?

Carrington Solar Flare of 1859

In the 1800s, the Carrington Event, a powerful solar storm, caused significant disruptions to telegraph systems due to electromagnetic pulses. This event, which peaked on September 1-2, 1859, was the most intense geomagnetic storm in recorded history. The resulting geomagnetic storm produced strong auroral displays across the globe and caused sparking and even fires in telegraph stations.

We should be.

Last I checked we weren't.

I know ! people think only of a nuke going off far up in space over a country causing an emp .. the biggest threat is a massive solar storm ! it will happen again !
It will, I agree.

And we will not be ready.

i already feel bad for pacemaker owners......~S~
and people on oxygen or on life support in the hospital ! and millions across the globe ! an event like the Carrington event today would have a much more catastrophic effect than it did 150 years ago !

You do realize that in 1859 telegraphs were still in their infancy. How robust was their circuits protected from anything? A strong wind could knock it offline.

How do you harden a freaking windmill or solar panel? What the U.S. has to do is arrest or otherwise get rid of illegal criminal terrorist cells who might be planning sabotage thanks to Joe Biden's open borders.
