If you’ve been following the "permabear" warnings lately, you have to look at the latest John Hussman portfolio moves. Known for his data-driven (and often contrarian) approach, Hussman is currently managing a $557M portfolio with a very specific defensive blueprint.

His top holdings for Q4 2025 show a heavy lean toward tech and healthcare "quality" names, but don't let the tickers fool you—his strategy is all about hedging against what he calls "extreme valuations." His top three positions—Alphabet (GOOGL) at 3.09%, Microsoft (MSFT) at 3.02%, and Apple (AAPL) at 2.76%—suggest he's sticking with the giants that have the strongest cash flows.

Interestingly, his portfolio remains highly diversified across 197 holdings, including strategic bets on Nvidia (NVDA) and Meta. While most of the market is chasing the AI hype blindly, Hussman’s positioning reflects a disciplined attempt to participate in gains while keeping a close eye on the exit door.

What do you guys think? Is Hussman’s cautious stance finally going to pay off this year, or is he missing out on the next leg of the bull run?
