Under the leadership of Governor Gavin Newsom and the California State Legislature, what began in 2018 as a modernization project for the aging East Annex of California’s State Capitol has grown into one of the most expensive and controversial public works efforts in state history. The price tag now exceeds $1.1 billion, and taxpayers — not private donors — are footing the entire bill. What was once presented as a routine accessibility and safety upgrade has become a case study in secrecy, legislative maneuvering, and questions about how California manages its own house.

At that time, the project’s estimated cost was between $500 million and $750 million. Lawmakers promised transparency and adherence to historic preservation rules.

Seven years later, the promises have fallen apart.

What may have started as a $750 million boondoggle, had ballooned into a $1.1 billion boondoggle.

They probably would have been on time had they not added a high-speed rail terminal there. ;)
Another example of tax dollars being stolen is what this is. No ball room will be built. Just like high speed rail and the 115 million dollar animal bridge.

All stolen

Democrats = traitors

Newsom--Boondoggle Train to nowhere. Boondoggle Cougar Bridge to nowhere. Now we have a fancy expansion of the capitol bldg. and his underwater taxpayers are asked to fund an extravagance. SMH.
