Racist “L’amour Toujours” Chants at University of Linz Students’ Event
At a student festival (Mensafest) at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) on December 11, 2025, several attendees allegedly chanted a racist version of the party hit “L’amour Toujours”, using xenophobic lyrics targeting foreigners.

The event was organized by the Austrian Student Union (ÖH JKU). When the offensive chanting began, the ÖH leadership reportedly stopped the music immediately. The ÖH later expressed that it was “deeply disturbed by the incident” and made clear that there is no place for discrimination at their events.

University Rector Stefan Koch also condemned the chants and pledged support for a thorough investigation, emphasizing that the JKU stands for democracy, tolerance, and human rights and will not tolerate extremist or hateful speech. ďż˝

Similar racist renditions of the song have drawn controversy in other parts of Austria recently, showing a wider concern about the misuse of music for xenophobic slogans. ďż˝

Personal Note (if you want to add it):
I studied in Linz back in 2006, when I was a student there, and I never witnessed anything like this. It’s worrying to see these kinds of incidents happening now.
I noticed that many people now want remigration of foreigners
