i'm probably the only one old enough who remembers elroy face that turned 97 today

Though they never played them I remember him as a kid following the Washington Senators.

I bet I had his card at one time back then.

Happy Birthday, Roy! I'm a baseball fan so I know his name. I'm not old enough to see him play live or on television. Thanks for the info.

Maz gave perhaps the greatest HOF speech ever.

I remember that well. In fact, when I played college baseball, Vern Law was a pitching coach for BYU, so the odds say he was a Morman. And you forgot to mention that the birthday boy, Elroy Face, was busted in the scoreboard, stealing signals in a previous game of that Series. Of course they sent the half a midget up into that tiny area. But anyway, Happy Birthday Elroy. You got a lot more good ones in you.

Him and Veron Law hanging on by their fingernails , just long enough for Maz to hit that famous home run
The Yankee fans in my grade school class were so heart broken. LOL

I actually do because my dad and his dad are from Pittsburgh and big pirate fans, It was well before my time though
I am also a fan......carry on the tradition
now if only nutting could spend some coin and put together a good team

During my little memory lane search, I discovered that another great Pirate pitcher from that era, Bob Veale, just died in January. That dude could bring it. He used to warm up before the game, starting from about 90 feet and finish off at 60'6". I don't remember ever seeing anyone else do it like that. But all pitchers are head cases in one way or another.
