So yesterday was the IL Primary, here is a recap of the races that were important.
The good news is my media won't be flooded with Democrats accusing each other of liking Trump too much.

So US Senate was the big shocker. Despite polls showing that Raja Krishnamorthi (my Congressman) was leading for the Democratic nomination, he was upset by Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton. I think this is a strong indication of the political mojo that Governor Pritzker has in the state. It isn't the Daley Machine anymore, it's the Pritzker Machine, and he was able to foist a placeholder into the Senate.
Which I think is actually too bad, Raja did a pretty good job in Congress, while Stratton was barely noticeable in her eight years of standing next to Pritzker with a dumb look on her face. She'll easily cake walk into the job in November; the GOP isn't even bothering to run anyone credible.
The other big one (at least to me) is the Eighth Congressional District, which, now that Krishnamorthi wasn't running, was up for grabs. I didn't like either of the two leading candidates, so I voted for Dan Tully, knowing he had no chance of winning. Melissa Bean (who had held the job for six years until she was voted out in the Tea Party Wave of 2010) beat Junaid Ahmad, who had the backing of Bernie Sanders and the rest of the far left. Again, another example of the Pritzker Machine getting its way.
