If the President is impeached, the Senate would probably hold two votes, one to remove (which requires 2/3) and one to disqualify (which only requires a simple majority). They would probably vote to do both or neither, but could theoretically vote to do one and not the other.

I say "probably" because the disqualification vote is a matter of Senate tradition, rather than baked-in Constitutional law, so it is *also* theoretically possible that they could change or simply ignore that whole deal.

Top-level American law is more than malleable than most people think, I think.
