I'd like to see laws change to allow disabled and old people to own a driverless car in the future without having a license. The car could simply make it impossible for you to drive it without a license. Maybe there would be a scanner of ones License or id card in the future to start the car instead of keys?

This tech could be put into any car and would and should become standard across the auto industry. A disabled person, old person or person that is unable to get a license could simply scan their id card and that would limit them to driverless car mode.

Example: Lets say you're old and in a wheel chair. You want a wheel chair van. Well, such would allow you to buy that and get around. Another example would be lets say you're 80 years old and no longer can see good enough to get a license! With the right changes in the law you never have to worry about being without a car.

I had this idea a few months ago when my engineer neighbor said he didn't like driverless cars. That people wouldn't want them. At first I told him how I drive 3.5 hours each way to my hunting property. I've love to do it driverless even if it took an extra 1.5 hours.

THEN I thought about old people who can't drive anymore. Or retards. Or drunk drivers. Or people who are too young to drive. Yes the laws have to change.

They'll need a license because State licensing is a revenue racket that they can't live without.
You still have to register and insure the car.

Insurance rates should go down if accidents stop happening. Wouldn't that be an incentive to move to a driverless car? Everyone says they don't want to give up driving. Bullshit. Even if true, if it'll save you $500 a year would you reconsider?

Who cares what he thinks? The ultimate solution for a lot of people will be driverless Ubers. No car, no gas, no maintenance.

Do you have Tim Horton coffee where you live? They are here in Michigan. If you would have told me you were going to start a coffee do not shop I would have said you’re nuts. We already have Duncan donuts. Today Tim Horton rules my area not Duncan. And don’t forget Starbucks.

Yea, driverless cars will be great. Of course people who drive don’t want to give up control. They trust themselves more than computers but I trust computers more than I do other people. Think about it. Every granny, crack head, drunk, blind person, all being driven around instead of what they do now. This will save so many lives. And a lot of money. Maybe we won’t need car insurance anymore. Or much lower prices because accidents don’t happen anymore.
