Palestine wants to join the ICC.
Israel decides possible legal action against it is terrorism, so steal money from the Palestinian authority.

BBC News - Israel freezes Palestine tax funds over ICC bid

Israel has halted the transfer of tax revenues to the Palestinians following their bid to join the International Criminal Court, Israeli officials say.
They said $127m (£82m; €106m) collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority last month would be held back.
The Palestinians submitted documents to join the ICC on Friday in a move opposed by both Israel and the US.

Israel is shit scared of this move because Palestinian membership of the ICC would allow legal moves in response to Israeli war crimes.
That would focus world attention on the truth of the Israeli occupation, Israel's massive murder rate, and Israel's illegal and oppressive methods to keep coverage their illegal occupation (According to international law) under their control, twisting the truth to suit their narrow minded view of the world.
The truth would expose Israel's brutality to the world, so Israel has to stop it.
Their pathetic attempt to stop legal moves - steal money, and hope the disruption stops non violent legal action.
It's a lot like a rape victim being threatened by her rapist, complain to the cops and I'll be back.

Muslim savages taking one sided actions to threat Israel, everything except mutually agreed actions or even just a talk, so what in the world do you expect to happen?!
I always get the feeling Muslims see other people as un-insult-able or whatever - and keep spitting in the faces of everyone.. Are you out of your frigging mind?

Indofred, et al,

It is a matter of interpretation, but it is not my opinion that "Israel is shit scared" of the State of Palestine joining the umbrella of the International Criminal Court (ICC). It is (in my opinion) more the case that Israel is quite annoyed at the State of Palestine for the trouble it is threatening to cause.

According to the news article (Top official and legal experts confirm Palestinians plan to try and take Israel to International Criminal Court over summer's Operation Protective Edge), it will be a case in which Israel will be required to defend its actions. It may actually backfire against HAMAS and Fatah (with terrorist and Jihadist components) when the Israelis layout the historical record of actions that compelled them to take the actions they did.

(COMMENT)

It actually may be the case that the real purpose behind the suit (filed by the Palestinian Authority and Fatah) will be to put maximum heat on HAMAS, since it can be demonstrated that HAMAS committed the first acts of aggression; and the greater number of violations relative to the Customary International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the Hague Convention of 1907, and the Geneva Convention IV.

Their pathetic attempt to stop legal moves - steal money, and hope the disruption stops non violent legal action.
It's a lot like a rape victim being threatened by her rapist, complain to the cops and I'll be back.
(COMMENT)

Actually, it is not. This is a country filing frivolous criminal lawsuit. While I do not like that strategy, and would advise against it, --- it could very well be the idea --- is rather simple. It would be the case that once the ICC process is complete, there will be an additional civil suit against the Palestinians for engaging in the worst kind of abuse of the judicial system. And in that suit, which the Israelis will win, the Israeli Government will be awarded a rather large settlement. That settlement will be deducted from the tax revenue withheld.

that Israel is quite annoyed at the State of Palestine for the trouble it is threatening to cause.

Is a rape victim at fault for reporting her attacker to the police, and trying to get him taken to court?
She's trying to cause trouble for her attacker.

If Israel is innocent and without blame, they have nothing to worry about from this move, so shouldn't care.
However, they steal money, hoping to force the Palestinians into retreating, suggesting they're worried about this.

They didn't steal money, don't lie Fred.

Speaking of stealing, how much money is STILL owed to Israel for electricity?

Muslim savages taking one sided actions to threat Israel

No, a group that considers it has a sound legal case, wants to go to court.
There is no threat of violence here, just referring their point to a court.
What's savage about that?

Not funny when the shoe is on the other foot hey? the Israel Gov has no right to keep the Pals money.

The innocent still have to go to the expense of preparing a defense.

However, there is a silver lining. The scope and nature of the Jihadist action with be finally laid-out.

Israel's crimes are well known and well documented.

Hamas, and the other faction in Palestine, gave the approval to apply to the ICC.

Evidently they are not as worried as Israel.

It is my understanding that the Palestinians were briefed by the Chief Prosecutor on the Article 53 Proceedings and the establishment of Jurisdiction and a Prima Facie case. While the fallout is less risky for Fatah aligned elements and the general following of the Palestinian Authority, the HAMAS associated elements and the provocative actions leading up to the Israeli Operation ProtectiveEdge in July and August. Ambassador Riyad Mansour (Palestine) indicated the intention to pursue alleged crimes committed by the Israelis, including during last summer’s war in Gaza.

There will be a comparison of the evidence.

What do you have to support that position?

I have a different scenario.

P F Tinmore, et al,

Do you have a different scenario? Or, are you just buying into the rhetoric of Ms Noura Erakat's view? A view that Israel must meet her criteria for government, and that the Israelis do not have a right to govern (self-determination) their land.

Remember, she says that there are non-Jewish citizens in Israel that don't qualify ("ineligible") for nationality. She is trying to take zoning laws and make it look like the government is acting in a malfeasant manner by not including Bedouin settlements that crop-up outsize the zoning plan into the utilities plans.

What she is talking about, in this presentation, has nothing to do with the general Israeli-Palestinian dispute. She is merely trying to discredit the Israelis in favor of the better way of life that the Arab-Palestinian can provide; as if the Arab Palestinians have demonstrated that they can manage their assets better.

Why ‘Israeli’ is not a nationality

JERUSALEM (JTA) — For Americans, the definition of national identity is straightforward: It goes hand in hand with citizenship. If you are an American citizen, you are also American by nationality. The same applies to the French, Germans and many others.

In Israel, however, there is a different but equally valid conception of the relationship between citizenship and nationality. Indeed, this understanding is central to Israel’s identity as a Jewish state.

The State of Israel maintains a national population registry in which every resident is classified by both “citizenship” and “nationality.” The citizenship of all Israelis is listed as “Israeli.” However, under “nationality,” Israelis are defined as belonging to different ethnic and religious groups, among them Jewish, Arab and Druze.

Several prominent Israelis — including a former education minister, a former Knesset member, a celebrated playwright and several Arab citizens — requested that the state recognize a new category of “Israeli” nationality that could be applied to all citizens, Jews and Arabs alike.

The Palestinian authority is millions in debt to the Israeli electricity company.

It's not called "punishment" when you collect the debt, even if the timing seems suspicious.

Should have hurt their pockets long time ago.

When I, as Israeli, don't pay for electricity, they cut me off without asking twice.

But somehow, it's ok for Palestinians to owe millions.

Well, not ANYMORE.

The Palestinians for this matter continued their one-sided actions after shutting down the peace talks because Israel disagreed to release another terrorists as a precondition, later they decided to attack Israel - got their nose in the dirt, next they've tried to achieve the deadline for Israeli withdraw from the WB without involving Israel and failed again, now they want to sue Israelis - fine, but don't expect Israel's patience to withstand any longer, so Israel on behalf of the US decided to freeze the support for the selfish Palestinians, along with the US budget cutting - so I'm asking again, are you out of your frigging mind?

(QUESTION)

Are you suggesting that the people of Israel do not have the right to govern their country according to the right of self-determination? Are you suggesting that the Israeli must bend to the wishes of external influences such as those expressed by Ms Noura Erakat?

Note: I'm not an expert on Israeli Laws; but I know a politically and religiously motivated diatribe when I hear it. This is merely a smear campaign against the State of Israel in order to discredit the Jewish People and their form of government, as if the Palestinians have something their can offer as better.

(COMMENT)

For more than a year, you have been on the rampage about the "right of self-determination" and that "the right to self-determination, by virtue of which all peoples can freely determine, without external interference, their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development (A/RES/50/172)" is paramount. Now you are saying that there is something wrong with the Israeli Knesset [(representing the people)(freely pursue their social and cultural development)] from setting the Basic Laws of their nation.
