I wonder how much money Coca-Cola has made off of SNAP recipients?

A probable answer lies at the bottom of this thread. But first, here's a story about Coca-Cola's racially-motivated hiring practices:

"EXCLUSIVE - ALLEGED DISCRIMINATORY HIRING PRACTICES AT COCA-COLA AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE

An individual named "David" sent in a job application to @CocaCola, citing 20 YEARS of experience in the industry. His application was REJECTED the next day.

He then sent in another application, just changing his name to "DeShawn,” and reduced his work experience to only 5 years.

His application under "DeShawn" was ACCEPTED, and he was given an opportunity to do an interview.

We reached out to Coca-Cola who responded with “the accusation is untrue as the fake applicants’ qualifications were otherwise not identical.”

This only makes it worse and confirms what we know. The fake applicant with the black name had LESS experience than the real applicant yet was offered an interview.

This must be investigated. How many other white people were discriminated against by Coca Cola?? @HarmeetKDhillon @AAGDhillon"

Now back to the title, how much money does the Coca-Cola company make off of SNAP recipients? A better question would be "'How much money has coca-cola fleeced the US taxpayers?"

Let's ask AI...

"AI Overview

While there is no exact figure for Coca-Cola's revenue from SNAP recipients, estimates suggest it is in the range of $1 to $2 billion annually, representing approximately 4-10% of its U.S. revenue. This is based on a conservative estimate of SNAP spending on sugar-sweetened beverages and Coca-Cola's market share, which is lower than other claims that suggest a much larger portion.

Breakdown of the estimates
  • Total SNAP spending on sugary drinks: Around $5 to $7 billion annually, with one estimate suggesting over $60 billion will be spent on soda through SNAP in the next decade.
  • Coca-Cola's market share: Coca-Cola holds about 45% of the U.S. carbonated soft drink market.
  • Estimated Coca-Cola revenue: Applying the market share to the estimated total spending on sugary drinks results in an estimated $2.3 to $3.15 billion in revenue for Coca-Cola and Pepsi combined from these purchases.
  • More conservative estimate: A more conservative estimate suggests Coca-Cola itself receives about $1 to $2 billion from SNAP recipients."

If the SNAP people had curtailed wasting our money on soda and junk food for the past, say, six months, they would have been able to spend that $200 on beef, chicken, bread, and milk (for the freezer) and cans of veggies and fruits, some tuna, PB&J, and cereal…

AND THEY WOULD HAVE ENOUGH TO TIDE THEM OVER FOR A FEW WEEKS IN CASE OF A GOVT SHUTDOWN.

Here’s more to chew on:

The average SNAP taker spends 20% of her (our) money on sodas and junk food (link below).

So, a typical non-working single mother with three children (and none of the fathers pitching in) gets around $900 a month. If she diverts the $180 she’s spending on junk every month to nutritious essentials, that would be $1000 after six months.

That $1000 would buy enough frozen food and shelf-stable food to last at least two months. Instead we have these ingrates threatening to rob stores!

This looks like a job for "Resume Man">

Actually, study after study has shown that resumes with "white" names are more likely to be considered than those with black or ethnic names.

Now, it should be pointed out that the systems are largely automated now. An Applicant Tracking System will sort resumes based on keywords to determine who to call back.

And I doubt anyone would program an ATS to pick out black names or white names.

Lisa lives in mortal fear that a poor person might get something they don't deserve.

Coke owns over 500 brands, including water.

Perhaps someone should point out to the Snappies that drinking water is much healthier than sugary drinks.

They know that. They don’t care. Someone else is paying for their soda, and it tastes good.

I myself kicked my Coke habit - maybe two a day, not all that bad - about six months ago and have switched to water (sometimes augmented with cherry or cranberry juice for a touch of flavor). I can’t tell you how many people have commented on how beautiful my skin is - and that never used to happen!

Well, yeah

Your side loves welfare fraud

But not MAGAs
Joe lives in perpetual fear that an able-bodied adult might be incentivized to get off welfare and take a job. He’d rather hand out $1000 in food stamps and bribe them to stay poor - and voting Democrat.

Why would I want poor people to be healthy?
Less taxpayer spending on free healthcare for welfare bums?

But I suppose libs can just raise taxes on the wealthy

Why would I want poor people to be healthy?

The answer to that becomes glaringly evident, once you realize you're not only paying for their unhealthy food, you're paying for their medical costs it caused. In the US, poor people should be among the healthiest individuals you could find.

I have libertarian tendencies that make me not feel compelled to micromanage other people's lives. Likewise I pay taxes based on my income not what the government spends it on so no I really am not paying for their food or medical costs in any practical way

I have to admit, I'm hooked on those Monster energy drinks the Coca-Cola company makes. I've had one of them every morning for at least the last five years, with no bad effects. I did my yearly physical checkup at the VA last week and the blood test results were spectacular: No diabetes, high blood pressure, kidneys and liver were in excellent condition.

But I pay for my own energy drinks. Hell, the convenience store chain I work for gives its employees a free banana every day, as a "health incentive." I usually refuse to participate. If I want a banana, I'll just buy one.

I call them "Ten cent welfare bananas." :laughing0301:

The program should be renamed.

First, the S stands for Supplemental. We have leftists screaming that $800 - 900 a month for a mother with two kids isn’t enough to cover her groceries. But it actually is: my grocery expenditures work out to around $10 a day for basic meals. That means a mother with two little kids is getting enough of other people’s money to feed the whole family - not just supplement what she adds in. Thus, the program can provide the entire food budget, if spent wisely.

Second, the N stands for Nutritional. The money is intended to help people supply nutritional essentials for their family - not soda, candy, Cheetos, and all sorts of junk.

Thus, we should rename the program EJAP - Entire Junk Assistance Program.
