I thought it was bad as a kid but as an adult is was god awful mess. Few plot holes that make no sense . HEre are just 10 things I observed last week

1) Luke rescue in Jabbas place makes zero logical sense. His entire plan involved Jabba bargaining and having R2D2 hold his light saber in case of an emergency. Too many things could go to hell

2) Making Bobby Fett into a *****. A super bad azz warrior and they make him both stupid and WEAK

3) Entire battle between Luke vs. Jabbas men was silly and corny. Jabbas men missed easy shot after shot in clear range. Plus they literally allowed him like 5 seconds to get his weapon from R2

4) Making Hans Solo irrelevant and trivial in the movie.

5) Ewoks. we all know about that !!!

6) Emperor ( who seems to forsee everything) fails to anticipate Vader turning on him.

7) Another ridiculous death star with the same exact weakness as the first one lol.

8) Luke not using his Jedi Tricks against the Rancor Monster or using his jedi skills to close the door shut

9) Luke becoming a Jedi master or knight. Excuse me ?? He had ZERO NEW Training from ESB as he left YODA. BS

10) How did Luke figure out how to make a new lightsaber ?? Do they have college classes in this .

11). Why could Luke not escape from Ewoks rope tied to his wrist ??

12) Scout Trops cannot use a radio to let their bosses know about the rebels instead of driving to their deaths.

Yep,.Return of the Jedi was horrible.and I loved it the first time I saw it. Memories.

Not saying it was HORRIBLE.

I am only saying it was average !!!

I re-watched Return of the JEDI

Why over-think it, Q? Let's look at it this way--
  1. It is an epic movie for the early 1980s, never to happen again. This was all new cutting edge stuff back then.
  2. There are some butt-awesome action scene special effects in it like the space battle.
  3. The movie has epic revelations in it such as who Darth Vader really was and other loose ends wrapped up.
  4. But much of that was shot all to hell and lost on those ridiculous muppet character Ewoks towards the end with their big, blank, stupid unstarring eyes.
When you have years and years to think about something, you'll always see things that might have been better, but the miracle is that it ever was at all.

I was the perfect age for Star Wars (12) - sooooooo awesome.
Then I was 15 when Empire came out, still a great age for it. And, of course, Empire was the best one. So I was equally in love with it.
Buuut - I was 18 when Return of the Jedi was released. I had a lot more things on my mind. So the magic was fading. Add to that, the movie just plain sucked. Comically bad. So obviously made to sell toys.
The original Star Wars has not held up to the test of time. Seeing it today, it is just an average movie with bad effects, bad acting and pretty silly really. Clearly a "kids movie".
Empire is a better movie. Almost no one disagrees with that. In fact, most will say it is the best of all of them.

Why would a several ton pile of snail excrement be attractive to a human girl ??

Luke is a Jedi and he thought tht he was in control in this situation.

2) Making Bobby Fett into a *****. A super bad azz warrior and they make him both stupid and WEAK
This ***** was a Jedi by blood. Undeveloped but still existed supernatural abilities.

3) Entire battle between Luke vs. Jabbas men was silly and corny. Jabbas men missed easy shot after shot in clear range. Plus they literally allowed him like 5 seconds to get his weapon from R2
Yep. They were under control of Luke's force. May be, his force wasn't enough to force them simply to kill each other, but was enough to not allow them to aim.

4) Making Hans Solo irrelevant and trivial in the movie.
He is. Just an ordinary guy.

5) Ewoks. we all know about that !!!

6) Emperor ( who seems to forsee everything) fails to anticipate Vader turning on him.
Yep. Emperor was strong, but not stronger than Luke and Vader combined.

7) Another ridiculous death star with the same exact weakness as the first one lol.
Was explained in Extended Universe - cooling system is vulnerable. And rigidity and stupidity of Empire caused it's fall.

8) Luke not using his Jedi Tricks against the Rancor Monster or using his jedi skills to close the door shut
There are limitations to force usage. May be, Rancor is just too stupid to be properly controlled.

9) Luke becoming a Jedi master or knight. Excuse me ?? He had ZERO NEW Training from ESB as he left YODA. BS
In this Universe it is not much about "development of skills". It is more about "discovering inner abilities". Some people have those abilities some - doesn't.

10) How did Luke figure out how to make a new lightsaber ?? Do they have college classes in this .
It could be read in manuals. Yoda had some books with him, I believe.
