I lost two chess matches today to players from Russia

Is it a matter of getting into the game from a young age, and it's kind of a national pastime in Russia, isn't it?

Yeah they still love their chess.and have many top.ranked players During the.50s through the 80s, you were basically a rockstar in Russia if you were a top tier chess player. Russia invested tons of cash in chess, they were housed in the finest hotels during tournaments, made great money relatively speaking. It isn't nearly the same today I don't think and they no longer dominate as they once did.

Did he beat you like this?

Naw, in one game I blundered and he suffocated me. A little too perfect in his moves to be honest. Second game the guy made a comeback when I let a passed pawn take my.attention away from the attack. I am usually making the opposite mistake.
