I just can't watch movies on my own, it's boring

I love movies, it's my favourite downtime activity. I prefer movies with a great plot that I can discuss with someone, dissect the movie down and bounce ideas. It's boring watching movies alone, it doesn't achieve much more than kill time, it's not much entertainment especially as most movies are predictable.

The only positive is I am able to watch many documentaries of my choice and since I prefer non-fiction, this is good. It's just boring as hell though. I don't know how people do it quite frankly.
Tune into YouTube for instructional vids. There is a market out there for a lot of hard to find items. Machining is my growing interest so I am boning up on vids that would give me the skill set for me to recreate/copy hard to find part$ that would be of intere$t to my fellow hotrodders & performance enthusiasts. U would be surprised what one can make with just a decent drill press, mini lathe & mini mill.

Below; E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T INSTRUCTOR(makes machining FUN!).

Pick a movie. I'll discuss it with ya right here!

Great movie

Life of Pi

How does it end???

It sounds like he's Trump.
The funny thing is this movie was done before Trump was elected. But there are some striking similarities in how the media dealt with Trump and how the movie media dealt with Hitler.

Check this out. Look Who's Back combined scripted scenes with Oliver Masucci (playing Hitler) walking around Berlin for improv scenes.

btw, This vid is banned on youtube.

I REALLY LIKE your AVATAR!!!
Is that a live deer aside you or is it one you shot? It's a big doe.

Thanks. It's the most points shot on my brother's property. He is not happy. LOL. He's happy for me but the pressure is on. He's only shot a 8 on the property. He also shot a 9 on a buddies property but that doesn't count. I don't care about that. LOL I hope one day he gets a 10 or better. After all it is his property.

She was a BIG gal!

Her name was Faline, the gal laying beside Faline is Taryn Mcgaughey. Faline's momma was taken out by a vehicle & Faline was the lone survivor(knocked out of the womb?). The Mcgaughey family had Faline's damaged leg repaired & ended up raising her as an indoor/outdoor family member on their farm. Momma(Kim) Mcgaughey can be seen with Faline in the above image. Faline was murdered by the Kansas State Wildlife Agency when she was two years old. The KSWA took INTERNATIONAL outrage over the incident which finally got these renegade state wildlife agencies in our USA to leave our 'domesticated' deer alone. Our international deer whispering community ALWAYS collar their domesticated deer to let the hunters know that the particular deer in question(usually does but not always) is "spoken for". The tragedy is Faline was murdered right on the Mcgaughey's agricultural farm that Faline's herd viewed as their "home turf"(see below image).

As can be seen in the above image the Mulies are not too awfully concerned about humans which these particular Mulies view as friend not foe. Of course there are plenty of non-domesticated herds of deer of all species roaming around so both hunters & deer whisperers can be happy! Faline was of the Rocky Mt. Mule deer species(BIG) not of the Desert Mulie breed(smaller/sometimes).

For me my 1st love was a herd of domesticated Columbian Black-Tailed deer(Redland Oregon/mid 1960's). I was never much into the more 'generic' White-Tailed deer(not to be mistaken for the Columbian 'White'-Tailed/CWT deer) UNTIL I came across the vid below! As hard over biased I am towards those drop dead gorgeous little CBT does I have to admit that in all my life I have never seen a more absolutely beautiful doe than the below vid of this stunningly beautiful world class show circuit capable White-Tailed doe. Like check out those EYES/eyelashes of hers!

I sport my current avatar as a memorial to both Faline as well as the Mcgaughey family.

Looks Who's Back. Hitler wakes up in the 21st century. The more is more an indictment of the media than the Adolf.

I watched a 15 minute interview with the book's author, Timur Vermes. Very thought provoking.

The movie is not really a comedy to me, but has some very funny parts.

Check this out. It's a vid of one minute. Hitler is transported in time. He is so smart that he quickly figures things out, including this situation:

You like this movie and bad mouth Citizen Kane

You might have the worst taste in movies ever

I'm the same way.
One of the many reasons I don't go to movies at the theaters anymore.
I may be a loner, but I don't like going out and doing things alone.

But at this age, what few friends I have left aren't able to do much of anything anymore.

I long ago realized that I consider watching tv or movies to be a social activity. Becasue enjoying it, is one thing, but the real fun is discussing it with friends and family.

It's funny farmers would grow so attached to an animal. Aren't they used to killing cows, sheep and chicken?

It's also funny how I felt sad for the deer, and I hunt myself. Maybe it's because that deer was scared and the deer I shoot never see it coming. Just suddenly, out of no where, boom, and they are in shock. Hopefully they die quickly. But I always feel bad after the excitement wears off.

Why do the cops care if you want to keep a pet deer? Especially if you live on a big farm.

Find some old people whose families abandoned them. They'd love to hang out.

My wife and I spend more time than enough watching movies, mainly on Netflix. The trouble is, sometimes you don't know whether the movie is any good until you have already wasted an hour or more, so you just keep watching until the end, getting aggravated in the process.

I basically have three requirements for a movie: It has to tell a story with an ENDING, the people have to act the way real people act, and don't give me any supernatural bullshit to make the impossible seem possible.

And those three requirements, are not met in 90% of the films we see. It seems like there is so much pressure to put out films that they just produce garbage, hoping nobody will notice.

Intergenerational film screenings: a win-win for audiences of all ages

One great example of intergenerational programming in action was a recent event held by our friends at the University of Vermont (UVM). On Sunday November 3, 2024, the UVM Center on Aging held a special screening of two films, “Between the Silence” and “Dial a Ride,” from our Project UnLonely Films library, a collection of short films offering diverse, destigmatizing perspectives on loneliness, connection, and belonging. Attendees included a mix of 30 college students, faculty, and older adults from the community. The purpose of the gathering? To foster learning across generations at UVM.
