It’s interesting how the history of ammunition evolved.

Yes,I am very familiar with this unit of measure for shotguns, and as stated, the .410 is a quasi-want-to-be shotgun![]()
Mosin Nagant .. 7.62x54R .. nice looking rifle. I own one of these (long barrel) and bought it from a desperate guy for less than $100. Mine doesn't have the darker finish as pictured in the photo.Yet, on average they bring more.
I bought a 1920s era Stevens 108 single-shot yesterday.....The damn things bring upwards of $500.00.
The one at the top.....I consigned it this morning for $350.00.

/----/ $813.41Try finding and purchasing any length barrel 1970 or earlier Rossi “ Coach Gun “ ( Double barrel with hammers) today ( They were like 99.00$ or less new ( now nice examples fetch 700.00 $ + )
I refer to that as The SKS Syndrome./----/ $813.41
- The 3.88% inflation rate means $100 in 1970 is equivalent to $813.41 today. This inflation calculator uses the official US consumer price index published by the Department of Labor.
My non matching original VGC 1966 Arsenal 26 “Para” SKS is worth 450.00-650.00 $ I have no idea how much it cost when it came over in a container in late 80s -early 90sI refer to that as The SKS Syndrome.
Chi-Com SKSs are not $79.00 anymore either.
In fact they have beat inflation ($192) by 300-400% for good matching examples that Bubba did not get to.
I do....$129.00 at Navy Arms's storefront in Martinsburg WV.....I bought one there. It came in a wood crate with a crappy side mounted scope that would not hold zero. Don’t think the Chi Com military or police were issued the SKS variants that took AK mags either ( they had an entirely different variant for that , the type 68 which was select fire …I do....$129.00 at Navy Arms's storefront in Martinsburg WV.....I bought one there. BTW.....After being closed (storefront) for 20 years it has reopened but I've not been there yet.
BTWW.....All the "para" SKSs are fantasy guns.....They were created for the US market. The Chi-coms never issued them to the PRC.....Still cool and all.![]()

The "snake charmer" was a single shot with no bead. H&R upgraded it a bit but the stock was not very tough.I always liked the .410 “ Snake Charmer “ Short barrel Pistol Grip Pump action with mag Tube extension holding extra slugs as a breach gun
I only use the term loosely ( I call the short barrel Pump action Pistol grip shotguns “ Snake Charmer “ if they are .410 ( not the 20 Ga 12 Ga versions , single barrel shotguns are for women & kidsThe "snake charmer" was a single shot with no bead. Rossi makes a very nice version called the Tuffy. It holds eight rounds onboard too.
Full choked so it's also useful for squirrels and such and shoots very well.

You seem, to put it nicely, misinformed.....I've used a 12ga single-shot H&R Topper as a turkey gun since 1977 when the wife gifted it to me.I only use the term loosely ( I call the short barrel Pump action Pistol grip shotguns “ Snake Charmer “ if they are .410 ( not the 20 Ga 12 Ga versions , single barrel shotguns are for women & kids
My 12 gage Riot Mavberg ( Maverick 88 / Mossberg 500 Hybrid with vintage Mossberg front end & wood and Heat shield & police sights sits behind my giant sleigh bed and I take it out & dust it off every few years . Have not gone hunting with a shotgun since I was 15 ( now 65 )You seem, to put it nicely, misinformed.....I've used a 12ga single-shot H&R Topper as a turkey gun since 1977 when the wife gifted it to me.
I've never seen much of a point in carrying a 8+# pump or semi-auto through the mountains when a 5.5# single-shot gets the job done.....I've killed scores of gobblers with it.....One shot, one kill.
