No nation is launching nukes at another nation, if they arent being attacked by that nation. The US wont go to nuclear armageddon for another nation.

That said, the US would DEFINITELY send soldiers to the UK to stop a russian ground invasion. In that scenario, Russia would not launch nukes at the US, even after they lose badly. The only reason Russia would launch nukes at the US is if we were going into Russia with tanks to remove and kill their leader. A leader facing imminent death has nothing to lose.

Stupid premise.

The UK's nuclear deterrent is primarily carried on Vanguard-class submarines, which are armed with Trident II D5 ballistic missiles. These submarines, currently four in number, form the core of the UK's sea-based nuclear force. Each submarine can carry up to 16 missiles, and each missile can be equipped with multiple independently targetable warheads.

We would nuke them back. The UK is critical to the US being able to move aircraft and supplies in and out of Europe. An attack on the UK is an attack on critical US bases and installations. We would not just stink eye them.
