Would he travel down the road Pope Francis took, which was to have photo ops like this and defrock conservative Priests who were anti-abortionists, or would he have taken another path?

Was the most loving thing to try and make the church more palatable to the world as many considered Pope Francis to be a really cool Pope, or is it to cause the world to want to nail you to a cross because you offend them so much by not acting so cool?

My opinion is that the pope is having some second thoughts now about the path he chose......

Pope Francis passed away today.

Jesus was Woke

What would Jesus do??? Good question, that I as a sinner am not qualified to answer but my thoughts are these........

Ultimately the 'actions or activities' that go against God's Word are sins and we are to hate those sins and abstain from them........while at the same time we are called to have compassion on the sinner. Whatever the sin, whether a thief, prostitute, tax collector, murderer or those identifying as something other than what they were born as.

Christ called us all WHILE we were still in our sin to come to Him and His Grace and we as Christians are called to do the same. Hate the sin but love the sinner. It is not our place to judge others, that is God's job to pass judgement and if we do judge others, then we risk being judged ourselves

Admittedly it is a difficult thing to come to terms with in such a crazy world we live in that goes against everything we've ever known or been taught. I guess it gives something of an understanding to the world when compared to when Jesus came the first time..

woke

adjective

: aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)
I know the definition. I am asking you to give specific examples of Jesus being "woke" and compare these to those being "woke" today. For example, Jesus tells the Canaanite woman he was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, not to Canaanites/gentiles. He tells a woman caught in adultery not to commit adultery from then on.

Do the "woke" of today insist people not commit adultery? Do the "woke" today focus on one group of people and pass on others?

My point is, that what you really want is to portray Jesus following the "woke". Instead, perhaps give examples of the "woke" following Jesus.

Woke is an appreciation of social Justice.
Jesus recognized the unfairness of the world he lived in and sought to help those who were outcasts.

There were none more outcast than Lepers.
Jesus sought to help and accept them.

Can’t get more woke than that

Guess what...social justice was occurring long before the "woke" arrived to claim it as their own invention. As you saw, it was present two thousand years ago. Read through scripture, and you'll see it happening at least as far back as eight thousand years ago. Your "woke" are late joining in. They are a good example of the philosophy, "Which way are the people going? We must get ahead of them, for we are their leaders."

Jesus was obedient to God and His Commandments, always. How are today's "woke" on that philosophy?

Yes, Social Justice has been around since Jesus
Woke is just a recent term for it

Jesus was the most Woke person of his era

think its called den of vipers

Why? Because too many Christians seem to be opposed to wokeness – true wokeness, not some weird aberration of the meaning. Like so many words that have been turned into weapons and insults, being woke does not have to be a negative or scary thing. I consider myself to be woke; that is, I am aware of injustice in the world and believe that we have the power, with God’s blessing, to do something about it.

No, you want to co-opt his Name for your own purpose, your own modern-day clique. It's a matter of, "No one is paying attention to us! We need a well-known name to advertise our club! I know! Let's use Jesus! That's a well-known name, personality!" Can't today's "woke" stand or fall on their own without being propped up by those who lived thousands of years ago?

rightwinger, Jesus isn't a prop. Be respectful of who he is and what he stands for: Salvation/redemption of the world, of the "woke".

Then call it what it is: Social Injustice. Coining a new term is lame.

No, woke is the definition of social justice according to the Left ONLY.

For example, a black police officer in Ohio was called to break up a fight between two black girls. But when the officer showed up on the scene, one of the girls pulled a knife and lunged at the other girl, so the police officer pulled a gun and shot the girl to save the other girl. Unfortunately, the girl he shot later died.

Then all hell broke out as the media latched onto the story calling for social justice against the white police officer who shot the black girl with a knife due to his prejudged systemic racism. Lebron James even tweeted, "Your next" to the white police officer. The officer and his family then received a myriad of death threats and had to be removed from his position and moved from Ohio for their safety, even though he later was vindicated as having done the right thing to save the life of the other black girl. Naturally, the death threat Lebron made to the innocent white police officer was ignored despite being illegal and he was put through hell during the investigation which went on forever.

Later, on January 6th during the riots a white unarmed woman was shot dead by a black police officer in the Capital building and died. The media instantly declared the black police officer as a hero and refused to give out his name in order to protect his life and his family. Also, there was no investigation despite the fact that the woman was not even armed.

This is the world that the Left envisions despite having nothing whatsoever to do with any sense of justice for society. What the Left wants is a society that is a living hell for everyone that they see as a political adversary as they let society go to hell for not enforcing laws to protect the average citizen.
