Zone1 How was your Confirmation Day?

How was the celebration? 😊👍
.

I was Confirmed as an old woman, and I was so nervous, I thought I was going to cry.

One thing that helped me not be so intimidated was how the women in my parish reassured me that our Bishop is a simple and wonderful man. They described him as a "Minnesota farm boy", which helped a lot.

We all knelt to be Confirmed, because our Bishop has intermittent health issues and chose to be seated, and I think it helped because my knees were weak.

One thing that really touched me was the smell of the Chrism Oil he used to make the sign of the Cross on my forehead. After doing so, he held the hands of each Confirmandi, as he blessed us, and the smell on my hands was almost magical! I brought a tissue to wipe off any excess oil, and I still have it in a plastic bag, and will have it for the rest of my life.

Very special memory.

The Cathedral is also a very special memory. I had been there once, as a teenager, attending the funeral of a classmate, and of course it was very different becoming a Catholic there.

There was no actual celebration for me, since I'm a widowed old lady, but some of my friends from church gave me a few lovely gifts and we swapped some stories. They all warmly welcomed me into the church.

I was Confirmed in other than my home church because my sponsor needed to be present for a lot of people that he had catechized, so I had to be where he was.

I understood it that I went from a Child of God to An adult for Christ. It was a logical but beautiful step in my life as a RC. We had a little party with all the Confirmation Candidates afterwards; quite lovely.

Darkwind did you have a Confirmation Day?
No. I refused it because they wanted to give Me one when I was just 15 years old and I wasn't then and I"m definately not now, a believer in any church.

I believe in the Lord and Christ, but nothing from the church.

When I want to know what the Lord wants of Me, I can read. Oftentimes, better than they can.
