1. This is a holy week for both of the Judeo-Christian religions. Best wishes to all.

2.In its original iteration, we were a nation of individuals, each entitled to his own beliefs, and could speak of those beliefs without fear of retribution. One didn't have to fear being a lonely opinion. That's what being an American means....or used to mean.

3. Contumely that faces religion and religious folks can be attributed to what used to be the major party, and may still be. A major reason for Trump's landslide election may be censorship, including that for religous perspectives.

4. April 20th,1999 Columbine High School Shooting. 13 killed, 23 wounded

One of the students was Cassie Bernal, and she was killed during the Columbine shooting on April 20th, 1999. The killer asked her if she believed in God. When she said “yes,” he killed her.

5. Then out spake brave Horatius,
The Captain of the gate:
‘To every man upon this earth
Death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his Gods,

Horatius, by Thomas Babington Macaulay

Under a Trump Administration, the religious spirit of our founder, has found a new champion.

I post these threads in the hope of generating instructional debate, but your side is so bereft (better look that up) that this post is the best you can do.

That alone should teach you what Democrat control of schools and the culture has done to your sort.

It really does not bode well for the future of our nation unless Trump can be successful and destroy what your party has built.

I am so sorry for you, and for the nation.

I'll keep trying.

You don't know jack shit about US history.

Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism and leader of the Latter Day Saint movement, was assassinated on June 27, 1844, in Carthage, Illinois. He was murdered by a mob while in jail awaiting trial. His brother, Hyrum Smith, was also killed in the same incident.

  • The Incident:
Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum, were imprisoned in Carthage Jail in Illinois after being accused of treason and inciting a riot.

  • The Attack:
A mob, numbering between 100 and 200 men, stormed the jail and shot both brothers to death.

    • Political and Religious Context:
Joseph Smith's political aspirations and the growing anti-Mormon sentiment in the region contributed to the violence.
    • Impact:
The murder of Joseph Smith was a pivotal event in the history of Mormonism, leading to a succession crisis within the church.

A Shameful Chapter in Mormon History

Of course that, initially, didn't apply to Catholics and Jews. They came to the US as second class citizens.

Another lie from a Democrat.

One of the13 states was Catholic...
AI Overview

The original state that was founded with Catholicism as its primary religion was Maryland. Maryland was established as a refuge for Catholics in the 17th century. While Maryland was not the only colony with a Catholic presence, it was the only one founded specifically to provide religious freedom for Catholics.

Yes, George Washington welcomed Jewish people. In 1790, he wrote a letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, Rhode Island, which is considered a cornerstone of religious liberty in the United States. In the letter, he stated that the new nation would give "to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance," affirming the right of all citizens to practice their faith freely.

Yes, Benjamin Franklin was a friend to Jewish people in 18th-century America and contributed to the construction of Philadelphia's first permanent synagogue.

We need to embarrass these lying Democrats who live to destroy America and keep enmity between people.

There are many synagogues in the US, even in Democratic Party voting states.

Not a lie but the next best thing, another example of you cherry-picking your history:

Another fine example of you cherry-picking your history:
President Washington even expressed warm welcome to American Jews in a letter to the Hebrew Congregations of Newport, Rhode Island in 1790, promising that the United States “gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.” The U.S. Bill of Rights was approved in 1791, and its First Amendment prohibited government from impeding freedom of religion or making any law respecting the establishment of religion. Individual states, however, maintained the right to impose limitations on the rights of religious minorities, and some did so for decades against Jews, Catholics, atheists and, later, Mormons and Muslims. American antisemitism did not emerge in a vacuum, but within an imposed racial hegemony that enslaved, subjugated and discriminated against Black Americans and other minorities. The history of Jews in America is a history of the ongoing negotiation between hard-won legal freedoms and the lingering social effects of racial and religious prejudice as it persists and reignites in this country.

We need to embarrass these lying Democrats who live to destroy America and keep enmity between people.
You constantly embarrass me with your lies and hatred.

Both parties and their followers were instrumental in changing American culture.
