Fellow and sister educators, why are thirty-something and forty-something teachers turning to their male students for sex/romance?

Not enough coaches to go around, or what?

Seriously, it is just an example of the workplace being the best place for married people to hook up with side pieces, and schools happen to have large numbers of available "men?"

The football coaches were taken? :dunno:
On the staff of my first teaching job, there were 3 married couples in just the teachers and another couple on the staff. My department head was married to an assistant principal. The only teacher-student hanky-panky was by the band director and a student, and he got fired right after I left when Mom caught on.

In my high school while I was attending in the 70s, the physics teacher married the head cheerleader the day after she graduated. Nobody blamed him because she was the hottest thing on two legs. Everybody knew about it, and nobody said a word.

Back in the seventies, we had a new coach, a real Latino disco Dan, take a student on a date. Near as I can gather from the gossip, it was a date and that's it, but he was immediately fired.

When I started teaching, it was apparently right after a male student-femaile teacher relationship scandal in the district. So much of the orientation about not dating students.

Nearly twenty years later, no hints of that kind of scandal in the district.
