The beauty of their new tactic is that as soon as they detect speech directed at them and calling them out for doing anti-American or anti-democratic or anything, they use their MSM megaphone to accuse patriotic Americans of doing that same thing. For example, the author of that article says "They can occur because poisonous ideas take hold and subvert the society." Well, as soon as the government's detection algorithm finds that phrase "poisonous ideas" starting to catch on, they will spin it and use it against their opposition.

The real poison is the fact that the government will do practically anything and use any of its vast resources to protect itself. All regimes in history that collect power at the top seem to do this.

Wikipedia defines what happened here in 2020:

"Colour revolution (sometimes coloured revolution)[1] is a term used since around 2004 by worldwide media to describe various anti-regime protest movements and accompanying (attempted or successful) changes of government that took place in post-Soviet Eurasia during the early 21st century—namely countries of the former Soviet Union, and the former Yugoslavia.[2] The term has also been more widely applied to several other revolutions elsewhere, including in the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific region, and South America, dating from the late 1980s to the 2020s"
