Absolutely sicko and nuts. It just goes to show how far folks will reach for things that make no sense whatsoever in the name of religiousity.

Yeah I just saw a history channel special on all the cultures who mumified their holy men or elect. Some
Buddhist would embalm themselves by painfully preparing their bodies before they died by taking a poisonous tea that coated their organs and made it repellant to maggots. They considered their remains living Buddahs making them immortal figures.
Ummm being viewed as a disfigured gross burnt leathery skelletal remain is not exactly a look you want to be remembered as or paraded around as.
You are not immortal, nor are you remembered longer then the fleeting life span of those who have to view your sorry shriveled up remains. It's just part of their fascination with and worship of death and decay.
We are taught to be discusted by death as being an unecessary process that we could and should try to overcome
