Hotspots

In order to teach from home, the boss gave me an old Ipad 2 with an activated Hotspot to get a stronger internet signal. The techie is going to walk me through instructions for connecting my laptop to it later today. I'm set with that part.

My questions: How close does the Ipad/Hotspot need to be in order to work? Same room okay or do I need to put it next to the computer?

Do I need to keep the Ipad charged and/or turned on in order for it to operate?

Here's one way to determine if you have a strong enough wifi signal or not.

This basically what it looks like close up, doesn't matter what color it is.

What matters is the number of "bars" that are "lit up" shows just how strong or weak the signal is.
