I don't think President Trump will mind losing a base in Honduras that really has no military purpose. One more unnecessary expenditure that DOGE can cross off their to do list.

From what I read, the 300 U.S. personnel there help Honduras with military training and also use the base as a distribution point to distribute humanitarian aid as needed throughout Central America. I think Honduras might miss that as well as the boost to their economy those 300 Americans contribute and what others who come to visit might spend there. If we had friends/relatives assigned to that base it would be a great excuse to go visit a foreign country.

Doesn't seem to me they have a whole lot to negotiate with. The base is not a strategic necessity for us in any way.
