The concept of historic "anomalies" appears when evidence arises that runs contrary to the current narrative which states that we are today, the smartest, most advanced, most awesome civilizations that have ever existed on planet Earth. Things always get better, right? So, therefore we must now be the most advanced people that have ever existed on planet Earth. Post hoc, ergo, we the greatest!
If you buy into the notion that we're the greatest, it becomes your mission to discount anything that might run contrary to that. No matter how frequently these "anomalies" appear
If you are open to the idea that homo sapiens is over 200,000 years old and therefore it is possible that prior civilizations were at least as advanced as we are today, then the "anomalies" are expected
Here's one example
