If you think the Liberalism of the 1600s and 1700s has any relation to the 'liberalism' of modern America, you slept through your Poli-Sci classes back in the day.
In fact, you clearly did just that. Sit down with a piece of paper, divide length wise into two with a pencil, then label the top Hamilton on one side and Jefferson on the other. Then label their characteristics: strong national government, states' rights; economic nationalism, yeoman agriculture; weak on civil rights, strong on civil rights -- keep going.
Uninformed comments like yours disturb those of us who think clearly and objectively. You are going to find that you are a mixture of both probably, and that classical liberalism is not dead in either party.
