Commons sense, which we are allowed to use, tells us that Burrisma did not pay Hunter Biden a million bucks for his knowledge of Ukrainian oil law. Hunter admits that he got the job because of his name. Same goes for the Chinese, who Hunter threatened while referring to his dad to get them to keep the money flowing.

What Agnew was missing was a cutout, a bagman, a fall guy. Someone to take the money, and transfer it to him in a way that leaves no trail to the source of the money. Someone who, if the person from whom the bribe was demanded squeels, will say that he did it on his own in exchange for hush money. Or maybe Agnew did have a bagman who got caught and turned against him.

Using his own crack-addled son as the bagman was a brilliant move on Joe's part. So long as Hunter never turns state's evidence against Joe, Joe will be almost impossible to convict for any bribery or related charge. Even if he does turn state's evidence, how credible of a witness would a human trafficking, crackpipe hitting, stripper impregnating finger-paint artist be?

Hunter taking so much money in exchange for no apparent goods or services looks very bad, but it isn't illegal. No more than people buying Hunter's "art" for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Nothing illegal about Hunter using that money to pay Joe's bills.

We know, as thinking adults, that the Ukrainians and the Chinese intent was to buy influence, and also the intent of Hunter's "art patrons." You know it, I know it, my special students in junior high know it. But to prove it in court is a completely different matter.

As to what Joe did for the money, letting a spy balloon traverse the country unhindered seems like a good example. But, no, there will be no receipt signed by Joe that says "Payment accepted for spy balloon access to the contiguous United States. Hawai or Alaska would be extra. No charge for U.S. Virgin Islands." The DOJ could not convict him if they wanted to, and since they do not want to, it's a moot point anyway.
