Senator Mark Kelly calls out Sec of Defense Hegseth for claiming US will take no quarter against Iran.

Sounds like an unlawful order.

No quarter" means refusing to show mercy, spare lives, or take prisoners during conflict.

According to the International Committee of the Red Cross database of international humanitarian law, "the prohibition on declaring that no quarter will be given is a long-standing rule of customary international law already recognized in the Lieber Code, the Brussels Declaration and the Oxford Manual and codified in the Hague Regulations."

Hegseth did not declare "no quarter" as a direct order to the U.S. military during the press conference. Giving that order is considered a war crime under modern international law.

"Look at me! I'm crying for attention! I'm an attention whore, trying desperately to stay relevant!"

Killing prisoners and not accepting surrender is an American value?

Do you want to win or lose? Your argument is typical western naivete. You think if we hit them with kid gloves they'll reciprocate. They won't. Those people will be as savage as they need to in order to win, so you either play by their rules or fight with one hand tied behind your back, which is what we kept doing in Afghanistan and Iraq. How did that turn out?

Do it to win or don't do it at all.

Couldn't have said it better myself. So I won't. 👍

I am sorry..
But I remember when the US used to be the good guys
I remember when we demonised the tactics of the Nazis and Japanese in how they treated prisoners. I remember when we had values and still won wars.

Those values do not include slaughtering people clinging to a sinking boat, using torture, attacking a girls school and now killing prisoners

This is contrary to what the commander in chief is saying.

.

I remember when the US was full of people who could use their own brain and didn't need their TV to tell them what to believe.

I didn't realize that ceased to be the case. Maybe the problem is you.

I remember when we demonised the tactics of the Nazis and Japanese in how they treated prisoners. I remember when we had values and still won wars.

Like we won Vietnam? How about how we treated the Japanese-Americans during WWII? Aren't we the only ones to ever drop nukes in order to end a war?

Those values do not include slaughtering people clinging to a sinking boat, using torture,

Well, maybe they should, because that's exactly what they do to us and will do regardless of how we treat them. Maybe you'd like a word with the surviving Israelis from October 7th or captured American soldiers in Afghanistan about your pious civility. Those people will be as brutal as they need in order to win. You want to fight politically correct and think that somehow makes you superior, when in fact, it just makes you stupid. Force is the only language those people understand and I'm glad we have someone at the Pentagon who finally recognizes that.

attacking a girls school

Are you implying we did that on purpose?

and now killing prisoners

Servants of a brutal regime that's massacred untold tens of thousands of their own people.

Yes, we should kill them.

I see the action in Iran as similar to good parenting -- demanding discipline from a bad child.

Example -- the "media" is trying to tell us that the US Military has "destroyed" Kharg Island, where the reality is that the US Military has removed their military ability. Rotten kid threatened to kill the kitten, so you take away all the weapons that the kid has. The Oil infrastructure is still in place on the island, as is the population.

Smart fighting.

No, Hegseth was just explaining that he hates loose change.
